If this feels too much like cheating to you, then you should craft and cook all your stuff. Pickled turnips sell for more than plain old boring turnips.
You could also try fishing. I made a decent amount of money early game by fishing. There's also a sign post by the docks for tag team fishing, and those fish sell for a lot more than most fish.
When a crop is ready to harvest if you use the sickle on it you'll get a seed that is one level above the crop (with a maximum level depending on the tier of the sickle). Sell that seed and the shop will now sell seeds of that level. The buying price of the seed will stay the same but the selling price of the crop will increase earning you more money.
Your soil has various stats and level up as you harvest crops. The most important ones are the health: both the soil an crops have health. You can heal both by tilling a withered grass, a corn or a clover in a patch of soil. If you're lucky enough to get some tomato seeds you can use that to reharvest them forever (that works with any kind of reharvestable crop but tomatoes simply sell for a lot early on).
You can also turn your crops into meal to sell them even higher. Around 50 cooking and in summer simply plant Corn and turn that into Corn on the Cob in the Oven. A Corn Seed is worth 450G. A level 1 Corn sell for 1000G. A level 1 Corn on the Cob for 1860G.
As you progress the story and unlock dungeons it's easier to catch rare fishes that sell for few thousands.
The Tiamen fish sell for at least 6500 and their fish "shadow" in the water is gigantic so you'll always know you're going to get a Tiamen.
By the way, you can use the free baths to craft, forge and chemistry, it's free RP.
Also just upgrade your barns and tame a bunch of the cows/chickens right in the forest... the milk/day sells for $280+ so literally taming 4 is already $1k a day without doing anything...
however all in all you need 3M-ish to upgrade all the stores to tier 3 and thats not counting the barns
