I personally don't play early access games (with only 2 exceptions because those have so much content you can almost consider them a full game by now - UnReal World and Project Zomboid) for that reason. I want my free time I spend in a game to be relaxing and fun, and for me it's not fun when part of the story is missing, when not all mechanics are there, when important stuff i finally got used to suddenly get changed all around me with the next patch, when i'm stuck due to bugs etc. I want the fulll experience, so I'll wait.
It's ok not to like early access. What's not ok is to buy a game on day one that clearly states it a work in progress in early access, and then slam it a bad review because it is - in fact - early access and you expected more, like some do here.
What's ofc also not ok is for companies to bring out some half-baked garbage just to make some quick money, fool everyone with promises of greatness and then eventually disappear into the shadows. Sadly there are a lot of those which is why I err on the side of caution with early access.
With this publisher however, I've seen enough to know this will not be the case here! And what I've seen in the game already from dabbling a bit with it, I found impressive enough to be sure that once it's finished, I'll love it and will sink many hours in it.
Personally, I believe releasing too early can be just as much of a problem as releasing pretty much finished. There isn't much room for feedback anymore in the latter case.
like for example blue lock for content that can already be unlock in the current version, but require something (level, quest, etc). show the requirement info to unlock will be best.
red lock for content that are plan in the future but not implemented yet.
so we can differentiate between stuff that are already in the game and not.
We will raise your salary by 50% of what we are paying you now, good sir!
Hey, wait a minute....
Our salaries are measured in Keanu.
Yet you have recieved Sengoku Dynasty for free and blaming others not to do developerʼs work for free? It is developerʼs work to release any title in ANY STAGE of development that is suitable for customers who PAY for it.
Early Access is missused as an excuse for many things these days.
I am really really sadenned how badly things around Toplitz had developed. Similar post about What Early Access means had been posted at the Wild West Dynasty forum.
People are very well aware of what Early Access realy means. But this doesn't necessarily mean that they agree with it.
Toplitz had a great community but it is wasting it in petty excused, weird decisions and not so friendly replies sometimes.
Now it seams you are releasing title after title to pay for repairing previous game. And I do not see if this is sustainable business model. Why had UE5 had been chosen for this game and for this community is really beyond me. Players of your games are not PRO gamers with fancy above average gaming rigs. And it is obvious that developer have a really hard time of optimizing Sengoku dynasty with many features missing. This does not give much hope that Sengoku dynasty will be playable on average PC/Notebook that most of your customers have, when it will hit full release.
It would be much wiser to postpone release of Sengoku dynasty until it is much, very very much more finished to repair your reputation after Wild West Dynasty. It would bring you many happy people really enjoying your product and would happily pay more than Sengoku dynasty will ever cost. Also selling a game guide in Early Access is really dumb. You should rather sell ancient suit of armor with no DEF stats (purely cosmetic) and the ability to choose a custom clan crest if you intended to make some cash.
I had put my hopes into Sengoku Dynasty to be a game I always wanted to play. Now my enthusiasm is over.
Please stop making your customers a fools who do not know how trashy gaming industry is nowadays.
Toplitz seemed to be a very good, very customer friendly company. A bright star in filthy pool of money-milking companies who do not care. But repeated belittling of your customers and unnecessary excuses are puting you reputation very low.
