Feel totally stupid but
How do I swing this axe to cut a tree? Left mouse button - all that does is lift it and hit ground. Its not raising the axe up and swinging like ive watched others in videos.

craft a stone axe via crafting menu (rightclick when not equipped with a tool), put axe into a slot (1,2,3,....) press alloted slot button and when you have your axe in your hand just leftclick for a sideways swing and rightclick for a vertical swing

do you have any toggle on options? like run or duck? maybe have mouse keys reversed somehow? ive seen it do that downward chop a few times but wasnt sure how i did it

Other half came over and pointed out I had the wrong tool. Face palm. Managed to chop a couple of trees now
