We've checked the builds with 71 scanners.
For Epic Games Store 0 scanners show any problems.
For Steam Store version 1 scanner shows one problem (but of low priority).
The only difference is Steam DRM, and this might be what your scanner picked up.
Or it has virus locally on your PC.
Avast is aware of false positives:
If you believe our Antivirus is falsely detecting a file as malicious (which may occur due to new virus definitions being added to the application database), you can send the file to us for analysis.
You can report false positives with Avast here.[businesshelp.avast.com]
Hi, i got the same problem with avast too...
It's mostly with recent unreal games 4/5 or some unity 3D ones and the file "game-name-shipping.exe" only for unreal games...
IDP.generic is a generic security name wich seems to be due to heuristic detection... Here it happens when lauching a game...
It may occures by something in this files accessing something (protected folders, etc...) or acting very like a malware (using hooking technics between processes)? or because of a DRM or a mis-signed executable...
Fact is it's never a good thing in security terms to put an exception on a game because studios developping them are targets for hackers but it's better and surely a good pratice that you devs must contact epic and also main AV to understand what is the problem to avoid it in long term or at least speed up the white listing of your file...
I think it should more certainly be a DRM problem or a malform signature chain because it's mostly small studios or indies ones that has this problem... and it's not each update... if it was the problem could be the behaviour of what inside the file and how it acts... for example i never had this with funcon conan exiles (UE4) in years...
By the way i'm not a security expert... just have some knowledges...
I quarantine it, and send it multiple times to my av (avast) at this moment and try it again until it passes the test... but it's very annoying and need to be address quickly... For some game i had to suppress the file, restart windows (av lock the file place until you restart your pc) then verify game files for download it again... If the game is malformed signed it's the only way to bypass the problem... some maybe a good thing to make a permanent reminder in case...
Hope it will not takes weeks to be done
You can report the falsee positive here
There's no reason why the developers of the game should not be fixing this issue on their end (but instead be asking the consumers to 'create an exception as it is a so-called false positive'); there are so many games in Steam and most of them do not have this issue, why yours then?
Antivirus is a virus in a few of my friends and my view, is taking pc resources to always run in background.
Yeah, you do that.
You clearly have zero clue how code works.
This is the equivalent of getting upset and stop trusting your home alarm after it going off when detecting movement from your dog/cat tipping something over.
Then you and your friends are quite frankly... not smart...
If using windows, disabling windows defender is a REALLY dumb thing to do.
You are not only putting yourself at risk, you risk OTHERS with that behavior. They are called viruses for a reason, they SPREAD from computer to computer.
