Save game file incompatible 0.2.1.3
After switching steam account on another PC, I tried to host my game saved in 1.0.0.10 but upon cloud syncing in the other PC, it says incompatible version 0.2.1.3. You can load the game just fine but my friends who have been playing in coop with me can't join. Just stuck on a black screen while loading. Restarting PC and Steam didn't help...

This happens because you did not copy over the profile. It's a simple fix. Save the game, close it out, then restart. This will set the profile data to the save game and update its version to the current one and allowing co-op play.

.2 sounds like a crazy old save file to try and load. Time for you to start a new 1.0 playthrough.

I started the game in 1.0.0.10 and that happened.

This is, how you resolve it.

Not solved. I restarted all my PCs. Closed and open steam countless of times. No difference. Still shows incompatible 0.2.1.3 and my friends still stuck in black loading screen. You can see a blank player name in dynasty population but that’s all. No player marker on compass no name nothing.

I though I had explained it properly but I neglected a portion.
1) Start the game.
2) Load the affected save in Single Player game mode. (This is important and I forget it so I apologize.)
3) Do any one thing that will alter the save file. Chop down a tree, pick up a rock, gather some grass or sticks.
4) Save the game in a new save file. You can overwrite the old save file but it is better to simply make a new one.
5) Before exiting game, delete the incompatible save file by accessing the load screen and clicking on the "X" on the right side of the file name.
6) Fully exit the game by selecting Quit Game.
7) Allow steam to complete cloud save if you have it enabled.
8) Restart the game. The save file should be updated to your current version. You can then load it into a co-op game.

Just wanted to reply to this to say I'm having the same problem. We were playing together on a file started after 1.0. We'd been playing every day since it came out. Then starting a couple days ago I can't join her. It's a black screen forever.

I followed the instructions here to the letter. It didn't work. It's still a black screen for me when trying to join. We had a ton of hours into this save and now suddenly it's just not playable anymore in co-op.

The issue here is the incompatible save file, not the black screen, which can have a number of different causes.

"Still shows incompatible 0.2.1.3" I am quite sure that .2 will never be compatible, thus the suggestion by Winter's Embers above.

Also, I think Chronos is suffering from a problem with a different root cause.
