Not solved. I restarted all my PCs. Closed and open steam countless of times. No difference. Still shows incompatible 0.2.1.3 and my friends still stuck in black loading screen. You can see a blank player name in dynasty population but that’s all. No player marker on compass no name nothing.
1) Start the game.
2) Load the affected save in Single Player game mode. (This is important and I forget it so I apologize.)
3) Do any one thing that will alter the save file. Chop down a tree, pick up a rock, gather some grass or sticks.
4) Save the game in a new save file. You can overwrite the old save file but it is better to simply make a new one.
5) Before exiting game, delete the incompatible save file by accessing the load screen and clicking on the "X" on the right side of the file name.
6) Fully exit the game by selecting Quit Game.
7) Allow steam to complete cloud save if you have it enabled.
8) Restart the game. The save file should be updated to your current version. You can then load it into a co-op game.
I followed the instructions here to the letter. It didn't work. It's still a black screen for me when trying to join. We had a ton of hours into this save and now suddenly it's just not playable anymore in co-op.
Also, I think Chronos is suffering from a problem with a different root cause.
