Disposable buckets?

So after building a Woodcutter's Hut and a Well, I get to craft buckets to retrieve water. So I craft a bucket (one stick, one plank), then go to the well and get the option to "Drop bucket", I do it and a progress bar shows the bucket filling up. Once it's done, you can "Retrieve water" to get 10 water in your inventory, however the bucket seems to be gone forever. There doesn't seem to be a way to retrieve it.
Am I doing something wrong? Is this intended? Is there another way to get water without the buckets dissapearing? I know they are cheap, but 1 stick and 1 plank still feels like a lot for just 10 water units.

Yeah you can use it one time only. I have 3 well's in my village, and something I don't know the english name, but you find it in the decorations and it is filled with water. you get water from there too but without buckets. if you let your villagers collect the water, they will need 4 buckets only, which will last for a very long time.

Thanks! I finally reached the level where you can start growing your village and assigned someone to gathering water. I did not find the other building you mentioned, certainly not under the decorations build menu.

The other water collection is the trough. No bucket needed, and you can check it once every season like the hare box trap, but it doesn't collect much. The trough will also give you ice in winter, but it disappears out of the ice hut when you log out or the season changes, so unless you are going to use it immediately, there is no point in collecting the ice.

The trough yes. This is what I meant. It is not a boulding, just something made of wood which collects water. Like these you use for animals in real life.
