Chopping firewood at the woodcutter facilities. You can do it manually or assign a worker the job.

Charcoal will be ur best bet because it gives the biggest bang for your buck. Fire wood is good, bark, sticks and straw all give something to heating. If you look at each item, above the coin value is the resource type and value. Look at that to calculate your best decisions

yep - oddly firewood turns into more charcoal. basic firewood - ends up being more charcoal.. firewood is 4? heat - where charcoal is like 5? - but firewood turns into more charcoal.. 20 firewood = 40 charcoal?

so you get way more "heating" out of charcoal.

*edit - plus it stacks more - 50 charcoal vs 20 firewood... so better heat #s and takes less space overall.

It is also a good idea to store the charcoal on top left of your storage inventory, as they will start using stuff from there.

the items location in inventory matters?

odd - one would think they'd use the higher "quality" (more heat) items first?

if thats the case maybe thats why it seems like in my village, with just me and 2 others - only wineberries are being used/eaten? (at least enough i notice the numbers dropping..

Well I read that they use items from top left to bottom right, row by row. It matches my observations, always the first items of the food storage are gone after season change. In our last game, they never burnt furs or even firewood because the coal was on top left and it always got reduced.
