Medieval Dynasty in Japan?

Amazing how something so identical is releasing in Early Access just a year after Medieval Dynasty, yet the pub and dev seem to be entirely different. Any explanation?

The publisher is the same, only the dev team is different. The IP is "Dynasty Games". There are also other dynasty games which were released or are planned to be released under the same publisher, but are developed by different devs.

Same publisher, same "series" of games, different devs, UE5 instead of UE4, similar at heart but different enough to keep it interesting. New culture, new map, new mechanics, new stories etc. Oh, and co-op from the start.

It just looks like another reskin of Medieval Dynasty to me, just like Wild West Dynasty (what ever happened to that one anyway?).

Whats next? African Dynasty? Australian Dynasty? Amazon Dynasty? (I want royalties if any of these ideas get used )

A pity, but I suspected as much 😉. Sounds like I may have accidentally hit upon a future project though... I'm guessing African Dynasty was the correct one, but time will tell.

It looks like you guys stuck with all prefab buildings again and didn't update the combat. Thats disappointing. I played MD a fair bit and kinda liked it for a while, so I'd like an excuse to try out a new game but I'm struggling to see how this one is going to be any different from the first other than some prettier graphics/animations and a different cultural appearance to the assets. Seems like this largely could have been achieved with a DLC.

Edit: Actually strike the part about prettier animations - they look identical to MD still.

I'm sure there will be quite a few streams and videos out as soon as it releases into EA. In fact, there are videos from the beta test already. So maybe just see for yourself and decide then. That's how I usually do it.

Well of course. I've already watched the Raptor streams and vids by Mykillangelo and ShabbyDoo - thats how I know it looks virtually identical to MD. I'm just trying to identify anything significant that they did differently that would justify a purchase, or if it really is essentially just purchasing the same game again.

Pretty sure most players create variance on their own by playing the game. The mechanics are expected to behave similar, but both games can stand on their own.

Thats not an unreasonable question for a prospective customer to ask, is it? You must have a list of big new features or things that were done differently to hand, no?

You can build multiple villages.
Production is handled differently.
Spirituality is in the game.
There are events planned to occur in the game.
Large scale structures and special projects.

"Since it is a game from the Dynasty series, there are some obvious similarities between Medieval Dynasty and Sengoku Dynasty in terms of interface and character control for example. We suspect that a lot of Medieval Dynasty fans are going to be interested in our game, so we wanted the basics to feel familiar.

There are some important differences though, mostly because of our unique spin on some popular features and some completely new features. Sengoku Dynasty allows for more building customization and handles dynasty production significantly differently – mostly because the production is seasonal. We have also included features and quality of life improvements most requested by fans, like both first-person perspective and third-person perspective camera options right from the start."

For me it's actually the opposite. I was interested in Sengoku Dynasty much more since it was announced, but since it has been a long time waiting without the release, I got Medieval Dynasty first to check how this game may feel (but in a different setting).
