Stuck on direction

Hey guys, I feel I've missed something as there seems to be a HUGE difficulty spike in level after the Town of the Exiled. I have fast travel, double jump, but I feel I am missing something that is somewhat in the middle of the map. It's still blocked off for me and I am not sure where to really go next. I tried taking the manta ray to the east but I got mega wrecked out there and dipped.

Did I miss something in Emerald Falls, the Columns, or Town of the Exiled?

1. Manta ray is on top of the lava area, accessible from the exiled town
2. Purple haze is an abillity in your afterimage, it's "Eye of Truth"

The key should be in the area below it, there should be an opening on the left side of the castle that lets you jump down and grab a key on a ledge. I remember accessing this area at lvl 6 lolz. Although I obviously turn tail and ran.

Which castle are we talking about? Like Underneath Rainbow Plains itself? Or the castle up high? I feel so dumb because I cannot find this key anywhere.

The castle up above, the one directly connected to the tower. Just check the left side and look for an opening

Just to clarify again, I appreciate your responses by the way.

But there is the Castle Above which was locked and has a Gigantic elevator that takes you up to an area that is rated like 75. That is the area I am speaking of. If I go all the way up I encounter one of those really strong humanoids you were talking about. However on both sides is a red gate.

If I go to the bottom right there is a locked door there. This is the door I am speaking about. I feel I have searched high and low for this key in Rainbow Plains. But I am coming up empty. The bottom left of this area will take me back to the giant elevator.

Apparently it is called Key to the Pass. And I also have no idea where I got it from lol

I'm in a similar spot currently, just got the mantaray and started exploring around for a bit. I tried the desert, and I found the upper parts manageable, but the knights in the lower part were wrecking me badly. Then I left that place, and went to another area, where the outside had lots of plant type enemies, which weren't too bad, then I got further in, fought some knights, and then eventually made it to a boss named Valo, the First Knight and got absolutely rekt by him, to the point where I don't think anyone but the absolute best players could possibly beat him with my current setup. I kinda get the feeling that's the wrong place to be, lol

Not sure what that place is called, but it was pretty much in the center of the map, and was the biggest looking area there. I'm guessing I should leave and come back later.

Edit: Okay, I finally found that Whispering Forest area I was supposed to be in: It's just a bit Northeast of the place where I got absolutely destroyed, and directly Northwest of the desert.

Teardrop (? this is the place where you are at the boss. Just guessing the name of the area)
Ashen Canyon

At this point I think it's just a matter of trying to figure out what to do next. There are still some places unmarked on my map that I need to try and find. But getting to the Whispering Forest was not the most clear direction.

There you will find an area with pain in the arse humanoid enemies to fight which cumulate in a fight with a skeleton knight, that gives you SHADOW DASH which allows you to have i-frames during your dash and pass through the red walls

8. Triple jump is somewhere in the sky city after albedo tower. It's accesible from whispering forest and you need wall jump. I am still exploring here.

Other than that, I am still exploring.

Anyone knows where is the slam really? Iam searching the facility in the desert from the port of whispering, but nothing...

There is a portal to interact with in Whispering Forest by the big doll that takes you to the other side of Forest Foregone.

Yap.... i was there, i even went down to the frozen area accidently, still did not find the slam...

You need to go to the right of the portal

In the Northeast part of that area, you need to keep going until eventually you reach a section where the background turns blue. From there, just keep going up and eventually you'll fight a boss. The ground breaking ability is just past the boss.

Does Killing Gongor reward slam? I’m having a hard time locating it as well.

No, it's not even in that area: It's in the area you go through the portal in the forest, which is a bit southwest of Gongor. I attempted Gongor and got badly rekt, lol

The boss you need is called Xenal Watcher, the Conjointed
