Retired hurt

I don't know some one experience this or not, but i did. Once my player hit the century and then headed for single. Suddenly, he started , his way off to the pavilion, waving his bat and hands to the crowd. I was wondering, why he did it suddenly, when there was no wicket fell?
Then i read below retired hurt against his score. Still it is the mystery how he was retired hurt?

May be his stamina was too low?!

When stamina bar becomes empty then player get injured and will miss matches few weeks. The more you use lofted shots the more decrease in stamina. Try to defend some balls when you see your stamina bar decreases.

This was there from last few generations I think.

didn't play the older games much so new for me.
