Heating question
When it comes to heating, are torches (wall or standing) viable for small rooms?

No they are not. The heat they produce is negligible.

Figured as much but thought I would ask. In game it shows it not being much of a difference, 4(6) degree instead of 10 of the fireplace/campfire with just the size radius being significantly lower. Was hoping it would have been good enough to heat a small 6-10 tile building.

If the room you want to heat is adjacent to a different room which has a fire, you can connect them using a vent or a straw curtain to allow the heat through (the vent has the advantage that you can close it if the room without a fire no longer needs to be heated, also the straw curtain won't keep out animals).

It's not. I was testing a new village build style, giving each of the clan's adults their own small building to call home. No room for a campfire and using a fireplace just feels like overkill and is a lot of resources just to heat such a small space.

Yeah, heating multiple small buildings is inefficient. A peat stove is the most space-efficient heater, plus it has the advantage that they won't use it for light so they only use fuel when they actually need heat.

I've found that I can link (with vents) multiple small living spaces (2 bedrooms and an open area) with a central "common area" for cooking, bathing, and socializing. That way each "family" gets its own front door, but can share the heat from the larger common area. The "outhouses" are in their own separate area.
I try to marry couples together who like/are good at the same type of industry so that I can put their stations (like the thresher) into their individual family area.
Not as efficient as one large Clan House perhaps but a more satisfying "village" feel for me LoL
so on that true they dont heat very good but do not use in your coolers for food it will mess up the cooling in them. i doing the same making a small village each family will have their home with 2 bedrooms a large bathroom and a living room. there is a large central build for meets an the eating area an a place to gather all the guest
I always have a wall torch in my freezers. If it starts to warm up add some more frozen jugs.
that is true lol i just leave them in the dark

personally I just use the stove that burns peat in small rooms, it takes up a small amount of space and you don't have to worry about sparks setting things on fire ( like the non iron torches do) and the 2nd good thing about them is that it is not another thing that needs branches to heat. if you have a good stock pile of peat it will last for a long time unlike the branches.
