Poop Holes Fertilize Land
At first blush it seems like you're trying to go for some realism, but Isn't human feces toxic to plant life? I swear I heard that somewhere, but I'm not a farmer.

Modern sewage is very bad for plants because it contains a lot of toxic stuff besides the, uh, organic components. In general, human feces in a natural state is fine for the plants, but it's a bad idea to use untreated feces for anything, especially food crops, because it is an excellent vector for disease transmission. However, at the time the game is set in, nobody understood how disease transmission worked anyway, so presumably they are protected by their ignorance. :D

as far as i know some medieval societies like the Japanese literally used human poop as fertiliser, in fact in japan it was highly sought after because without using it their crops were far less productive

I know you did it for the lols, but to explain the japan thing better, they didn't eat meat until the 1800s, no animals means no animal poop for fertiliser so that's why human poop was so important

In January thus year, North Korea asked it's citizens to use human poop to make manure. :/

Give it all back to Nature thats the Circle it used to be and it is still a bit..

The sewage treatment plants nowadays are still producing parts of manure and soil you can later than buy in Sacks in your Home&Garden store, think about this next time you use some for your Plants. It might be some of your own .... in it.

That's true to some extent, but some are wrong. There were livestock animals in medieval Japan, and used animal's poop. That's a fertilizer called 厩肥(kyu hi/umaya goe). And there were many other organic fertilizers.

We ware used a fermented human poop continued until it was stopped by Douglas MacArthur.
