FOMO items in a singleplayer game?
I do understand that it is fun to have cool seasonal items, however having them be completely restriced to event updates seems like a horrible idea, especially in a singleplayer game. I also get taht they arent powerful, however for a completionists or 100% speedrunners who wish to unlock every item, having items whose unlock are restricted to specific updates is bad, especially since there is no guarantee of those old updates being archived or that seasonal updates continue being made forever. Some alternate method of obtaining these items needs to be made avalible, wheter the game checking your computers date for holidays or some other in game method requiring no live service.

Friend, in my childhood, I didn't worry about the item being temporary, I read in a magazine, on the last page about a cool game "Half-Life", there were three pictures from the game. That's cool, how I want to play it.
But the family got a computer only five years later, the year I went to study in another city, where I also didn't have a computer. )))
There are a lot of things in the game, to sell 66 items to the store I spent 50 hours. You will have enough other items that you need to find.
Try to bring a jar of frogs to the city, break it in your house and frogs will live in your house. ))) It's fun.

Sure, i even said its not a massive deal, however there is still no reason for it to be like that. The only real benefit to FOMO mechanics (which this objectively is as of now), is to increase player numbers or revenue. Both are meaningless in this singleplayer game without microtransactions. Plus this has a possibility of becoming an actual problem if the number of update restricted items increases.

And im not saying the games is awful or anything, im just giving constructive critiscism, which is what early access is all about.

Thanks for your feedback! The reason the Santa items are limited is because it wouldn't really make sense to meet Santa in a time other than the yule season. We could also add the items to the genie, since that is a magical way to get almost every item. But then it would be way less special to meet Santa in the game.

I agree that it is mandatory to guarantee that seasonal items will never disappear from the game entirely. So what we can do is to either make the update work forever via checking the computer date or by adding the items to the genie at some point later. Or a merchant in town sells these for really high prices.
Just ensure that any holiday specific updates be returned on those holidays in the future. Any items introduced will need to be brought back every year on top any new additions. At that point its not technically fomo because you cant miss out.
