I used the more recent snapshot version of Libertatis. This runs smooth without any problem so far.
To do this you need to find steam.dll somewhere in your PC and put it to the Arx Fatalis directory and then run it with win XP compatibility

I think that means Arx Libetatis is just like a launcher without fixes (except fixes of the launcher itself) or something, and not affecting the gameplay
But still I agree about "most convenient version" part. Native game runs very laggy, playable but without comfort.

so Libertatis is not only a new launcher.
Just fix this game youself. Or if you cannot - write negative review. Write all issues what you get. Its best what you can do.
