I honestly might prefer the music in the first one but I'm probably in the minority there. Too much "yodelling"/chanting-based tracks (or whatever you want to call it) for my liking. Some of the music in the 1st one was really memorable (particularly the furnace and bird boss).
I was okay with the lack of fast travel. I wish more games would stop catering to that. The solution they have works really well. It's actually kind of fun to blaze through old areas with new powers, completely bypassing most of the puzzles. I'm not sure if most people realize it's possible in some cases - they just default to solving them the way they know instead of re-analyzing the situation. The zip lines did kind of wear out their welcome a bit - would've been nice IMO if there were more of them and that they didn't necessarily take you directly where you wanted to go and you had to jump/blink your way across a few of them in midair. But they're simultaneously too fast to allow for that, and also too slow to be an "autopilot" solution like they are now. Maybe the camera could've pulled back to let you see the lines coming from further away, but that might not've been possible for technical reasons.
As for the structure I think it's a pretty interesting way but I hope that not every future game of rain will be like this. Sometimes the main path could've been a little bit more demanding, since it's not that long anyway, but I appreciated the idea since it played into the strengths of the game, after all finding all these hidden scrolls is more demanding and puzzly, than just following the critcial paths which is by definition a no-brainer considering the large amount of checkpoints.
I did prefer playing as a hot chick this time instead of the generic blob of the first game, also the movement/physics is pretty slick in this one but it went by way too fast, the chanting did get a bit annoying but the other tracks were awesome.
I feel like the axe could of been used for longer and apparently theres a bonus boss but that should of been in the main game i hate running around back and forth in these maze style games just to grab a bunch of doodads.
