Sometime before the eventual heat death of the universe.

TIL articulated locomotives actually existed for US narrow gauge - at least the 2 used by Unitaw did. Bit after the game setting though, I think. Ugly looking things too, I guess streamlining doesn't always make for a good look. The Serbian 2-6-6-2 that Wikipedia mentions looks great though.

Who needs streamlining anyways. It would only be for looks on Narrow Gauge which would have been frivolous spending, especially for the Uintah.

The Uintah mallet has been teased as a locomotive for the game. It had a silhouette in one of the update announcements late last year (when we got the new turntable). So we know the it’s coming, just not when.
did some research and found an articulated narrow gauge articulated locomotives that were used for logging and I think they would be great. but I think the developers really should add at least 1 articulated locomotive of any kind.
Another fact about articulated locomotives (Big boy for example) it was made for the mountainous terrain and also performed very well on flat terrain. It had lots of power, and you didn't need 2 locomotives pulling 1 train. It basically cut costs by a lot for labor and transported lots of goods from east to west multiple times.

id love to see either unitah 51, or those saddle tank articulateds in the game.

Im not sure if they actully exist, but I remember a trainz 2006 mod i have being a 30inch gauge 2-6-6-2 mallet that isnt a tank engine, and id love to see it ingame.

30” gauge ≠ 36” gauge

Equipment of different gauges won’t be added to the game.

Uintah 50/51 will be in the game eventually though.
I do believe that the Uintah started using tenders because the adhesion factor was reduced as the locomotive consumed water.

They had their tenders added by the Sumpter Valley Railway. That railway converted them from coal to oil, which necessitated the change to tenders. While the factor of adhesion does change as tank locomotives consume water and fuel, that had very little to do with the addition of tenders.

I would like the tender version but who knows if that'll be a thing.

i know that, but i think it would be cool if a similar type of locomotive was added to the game. 3ft gauge mallet with tender.

that would be really cool

The Uintah engines had tenders added when they went to Sumpter Valley. It would be awesome if both configurations were eventually available.
