and with what happened on discord the game is likely to stay as it is anyway.
Inspired by your videos (k10wn) I started to convert my map into beta track. Yes, it's really nice to build and Tetsy runs nice. But I don't like the look of the new track, encountered a lot of problems with getting stuck (when the old groundwork is removed, until then it's just fine) and a few limitations with bridges (no wooden deck as of now and I can't place steel bridges without pillars any more).
We tried to change the hosting system but that didn't work out. So I reduced the car count to about 100 and engines to 10 (handcart included). That works reasonably well for us. The player I play with regularly and myself we both have 100mbit upload and 40mbit download with a ingame ping indication of 18-20. With that low a car count it even doesn't matter if another client joins into the game.
At the refinery I never encountered any other problems than colliding barrels if I try to go too fast with manipulating the gate. But I reached the refinery late, as I evolved my network from industry to industry. Most likely I than already had thinned out the rolling stock. But I try to make the suggested test sometimes soon (the editing part will be the rolling stock though, as my loading dock is cramped with barrels, I am currently just filling all industries as there's not much use for money)
