Why can't the stock car carry seeds and grain?
Why?

Grain is modelled as being carried loose (as was done in box cars), it would fall out the sides of the stock car which are partially open for ventilation and to allow the "emissions of the" cargo to escape. That also means the floor is unsanitary.

Its not deep, a ventilated car wont hold loose materials, just like a screen wont hold water. Besides ROL developers are trying to keep it almost a historical sim.

I think the stock car might have its cargo swapped to livestock at some point, so it wouldn't make sense to have it carry seeds, just like tools were removed from passenger cars.

You can fit a lot of different stuff into stock cars, why not have both goods types? And i bet there were railroads who outfitted their cars to carry different sort of things.

Historically speaking, Stock Cars were designed to specifically carry livestock. They were also known as Cattle Cars, or the full name Livestock Cars, and most rail lines would have had separate box cars for other types of cargo. Stock cars, while having space for other types of cargo, never saw use transporting cargo other than livestock to my knowledge.

Simple answer here: Stock cars weren't ah... cleaned out that often. Wouldn't want your product dealing with pig, cow, or whatever else you'd carried, droppings.

That's roughly translated as "They got shoveled out when the doors wouldn't open/close any more." I had family that worked on the Frisco. There were stories.
