Minimum distance between industries?
If there is no minimum distance between place-able industries, then players will just place them all next to each other and removing the need for proper lines.

why? it is your freedom to place them, no matter if you place them next to each other or you have to drive around the whole map to get to them

There needs to be some restriction to avoid players just placing them all next to each other

No, free choices for free players. Nobody should be forced to do things in any specific way.

What’s the point of free range if you can’t make a industrial town at the spon depot and have your raw resources cut where they need to be

With the way it is, the raw resource can be touching the industry that uses it. That's not ideal.

There are two types of play styles.... Yours and other peoples styles.

People always prefer the easiest option by instinct. There needs at least some incentive for strategic placement of the industries outside of "I wanna roleplay."

Or maybe they like really long trains and they place the industries very far apart so that the train won't be at the departure and destination locations at the same time!

let people play the way they want. this isnt one of those situations to bring out a pitch fork. this is almost exactly like the console lads trying to find any excuse to make fun of pc users cause they can use mods or cheat codes. . that is one of the beauties of true gaming.

You are very hostile in these forums. I wasn't crying about this and was just pointing out a potential flaw.
It’s interesting how some people like them preset and others prefer to set them themselves it’s up to you to decide
I kind of prefer them preset because then it keeps me from just being lazy and making it too easy to access them, and it also gives you a challenge to work towards, but at the same some of the placement on Pine Valley was not ideal and was annoying to work with.

I'm kind of struggling with placement on Lake Valley because I want to place them kind of realistic to where they would be IRL (logging camp in forested area in the mountains for example, or iron/oil in the desert) but I'm kind of left directionless since the map is very sandboxy the way it was designed. It would also have been nice if there was a prebuilt town or map exit (off map exports) to spring board off of.

Not sure if this is something that could be remedied by having a resource "heatmap", where iron or coal or oil is located in specific parts of the map (possibly even multiple locations) as a way of encouraging the player to put their industry in the appropriate biomes.

Or of course the most reasonable option would be to have two versions of the same map, one with preplaced industries and one that is blank.

Hallo Freunde,

I like the ability to choose and find that, often times, even though I can place industries on top of each other I don't. I have several moved industry maps where I have a mix, for example, I might put a smelter and logging camp on the same yard (but in a way that makes for some fun switching operations), or put the ironworks near the coal mine (but restrict the line between the two to only allow for geared locomotives and shorter trains, thus adding the need to swap locomotives for services from the rest of the map to the mine). And as stated above mine is just one of many play styles enjoyed by the community that plays RRO and if someone wants to play a certain way they shouldn't be restricted just because it isn't someone else's "right way" to play the game.
