That would be great. I think it would be great to have the table stop automatically (at least under a certain speed) when it lines up with a connecting track.

Part of the reason I haven't bothered with the turntable yet is because I don't want to have to fiddle with trying to get it lined up properly so I can drive on and off of it.

The function of the in game turntables don't match the form yet. They look great but yeah a lock/stop feature would make them much more user friendly I personally have a couple of them, but I mainly just use run arounds and y junctions if I must turn the locomotive around.

If you stand on the turntable while you spin it it’s much easier to line it up. Less realistic, sure, but I don’t think that’s the part of the game that I need to feel like the real thing.

The easiest method would be to lock them with a dog bone.

i find that they still move after you come off them and you have up them back in place to use it again so locking them down would be great and i'm sure they have it in real life just in case of the gears slipping or braking

At the Connecticut Eastern RR Museum, we use an 1892 Armstrong Style Turntable (hand powered, similar to the in-game Gallows table, but with a riveted iron bridge), because the table tilts over the central bearing, as you come on and off, they will move unless they are locked. Most initial locks were an H shaped slide plate that slid along the gage side of the rail web. Later ones were upgraded with a mechanical slide lock that went into receiver sockets on the pit wall (see the table at the Colorado RR Museum - Hyce on youtube is great source for thier info).

It seems to make a difference how it's been placed (connect to level track only) and operated: If you keep the mouse button pressed it'll gain momentum and keep on going (much like the cars that once ago rolled uphill). If I stick to single click action it seems to work much better (but is an operational nightmare).

This is a long wanted feature already. For now it looks like someone made it in a day or so.
- "Does it moves left and right?"
- "Yes."
-"Job done".
