Railroad Tycoon 4?

So will this ever evolve into a game like Railroad Tycoon where you have tasks or a goal, or will it just remain a sandbox format?

Don't think so. Economy maybe get some extra futures but for sure it will stay a 'big sandbox' where you build your own railroad. Tothether or alone. So 'the' task/goal in the game is there: 'build your own railroad'.

Don't think of it as a Railroad Tycoon game, then you will be disappointed.
This is closer to TrainZ, but with a working economy that you can enjoy with friends.

Partially working economy... other than Locos n Rolling stock, cash has no meaning
