Problems I found with the snow plow.
One I like the snow plow it's nice to have something to actually helps deal with the snow. But I end up finding a few problems with it. It tends to derail too often. Heck just a few minutes ago I tried driving it up a hill a steady 2.5. And it derails when my locomotive wasn't even going fast to cause it to derail. And it even derails if I'm moving at a at full regulator and full draw bar. The snow plow is not meant to fall off the tracks that easily. I know I know snow plows. And snow plows can't not get derailed because of it being pushed up a hill. So please fix the snow plow. And if I remember correctly snow plows have the weight capacity of one and a half of a class 70. The snow plow should be that easy to derail. Please fix it so it won't derail again.

My snow plow works fine, others were saying it cant go over switches but i havent had any issues with it. Ive also used my plow up a 10% grade on about a 50m radius without issues

the snow plow weight and physics are off so the snow plow weights more than half of what it should and physics engine (splines and loco physics) need to be fixed or rebuilt. again.

45 deggrecrossovers dont work with the plow

Some plow comments: The plow seems to have no brake, which I find odd. I guess you can't leave it anywhere that is not flat. You have to couple to it slowly so that bumping it does not make it roll away. It also appears to have a cap (non functional). Is that for adding water? For weight? When you buy a plow, it spawns onto the track facing the wrong way, so that you can't couple to it. You have to rerail it to get it somewhere where you can couple to it.

The one it's modeled off of, never had brakes.

The tank was just a tank. Generally was filled with either water, sand, or anything handy, sometimes scrap metal.

Yes, but in real life they would prevent it from rolling away by putting blocks at the wheels. I don't think it would be too hard to implement something like that in this game. It would atleast stop the thing from running away, like in reality.
good to know.

I have been having the snow plow derailing everywhere, even when it was trailing. I did notice that the snow from many angles ether doesnt render or gets kinda wonky.
I also found with the new Cooke loco you cant work hand valve in the cab for the compressor in first person.
ya the snow plow is bugged bad i was going down a strigh track and for no reson the plow just fell over and got plowed of the track bye my glenbrook

It would also be nice if snow plows spawned facing the backwards when bought because it seems the front end as no way of pulling them out.

In real life, they'd keep it coupled to a locomotive when snow hit, or pushed off on a siding by itself. The only reason the photos of it today show its wheels chocked, is the differences in Health and Safety regulations, and the fear that some one may hit the back of it with another car and punt it off into the viewing path.

Is there actually a use for the snowplow, or is it just something cosmetic?

What kind of engine would realistically push the plow? The current lineup doesn't have anything that looks very plausible. Porters are too small. All non-geared locos have cow catchers with long bar couplers that would surely bend or break. Geared locos... too slow to get adequate momentum for plowing? It seems like the class 48 0-6-0 makes the most sense...? Also, IRL, would all the pushing effort be done through the coupler? Seems like an incredible amount of stress on a single point.

Another question: I've seen that there is some kind of speed boost if you use a plow. Is this just some (rather odd) game feature? I mean, there is no reason that IRL a plow would boost your speed, right? I would think that pushing a heavy plow would only slow you down.
