Steam Deck Dock

Steam Deck Dock

Docking station firmware update fail
Replaced my Steam Deck dock with a new one after mine was stolen. It arrived in the post this morning.

I've set it all up and it prompts a firmware update but this fails every time saying the connection to the deck is lost. I've read several things online with people having the same issue.

What I can do is get it onto desktop mode and it works on my monitor but if I switch to gaming mode this still fails and does not show on the monitor.
I've tried the following:

- connecting the dock with nothing else connected.
- flipping the USB-C around.
- restarting with the dock connected.
- restarting without the dock connected.
- Different monitor.
- Different HDMI cable.

I seem to have tried all what has been suggested elsewhere and Steams FAQ and setup guide isn't helpful and doesn't work. I've currently raised a ticket and awaiting a response.

Anything anyone can suggest would be great I didn't have this issue with my last dock which was stolen.

You might not want this update. I picked it up and now all my remote play connections are unstable. Switch to a generic usb-c to Ethernet adapter and the trouble goes away. Switch back to the official dock and it’s low bandwidth warnings and deck crashing all over the place.

I raised a ticket with support they went through some troubleshooting with me and it’s been return for a replacement.
