Steam Deck Dock

Steam Deck Dock

No Video to TCL 65S403
TV Model: TCL 65S403
OS: Roku TV 7106X v11.0.0 build 4193-30
Connection: HDMI port to HDMI port
Max Resolution: 4k (2160p)

I have my Steam Deck Dock connected to my TV directly via HDMI cable. The TV does not detect any video across all 3 HDMI inputs. It does detect signal from other devices (X Box Series X, Switch, etc) on all inputs. Trying different HDMI cables results in the same behavior - no video signal from the Steam Deck.

EDIT: The deck needs a system update while not connected to the dock and then a second update when connected to the dock. Valve could have saved us the trouble by telling us. Had to mess around a bit before I was prompted for both updates.

What do you mean by system update? I have a TCL 55R635 and the official Valve Deck Dock produces a black screen when the Deck is plugged in. Checking the system settings on the Deck (when not connected to the TV) I don’t see any system update available.

Same issue here, no video, different cables, HDMI, DP, different monitors.

Update: Not sure exactly what I did, but the solution seemed to be power-cycling my TCL TV (using the Restart selection in the Settings>System menu, and then by unplugging it for 10 seconds), power cycling the official Dock (by unplugging EVERYTHING for at least 10 seconds), and restarting the Deck itself, all in random succession. Just keep trying that and maybe something will work. No idea if I’ll have to do this song and dance the next time I unplug the Deck from the Dock but I’m here now so I’m momentarily happy

Chiming to say I've tried this on both a 75" and a 55" TCL series 4 roku TV with zero luck. Messed with every setting under the sun. Rebooted everything many, many times. This is so, so dissapointing. Are we the only 3 people with Steamdecks and TCL roku TVs?

I think TCL must skimp out on their HDMI tech one way or another. My Xbox One X has never been able to output a solid HDR signal to my TCL TV that claims to support Dolby Vision. It has never looked as bright as HDR looks on basically any other HDR screen I've seen, even HDR 400 screens. I don't think this is on Valve's tech, though I'm immensely disappointed this somehow never came up in their test cases.

Been having a similar issue but on a Sony HDTV. No amount of power cycling (including completely removing the cable and running the dock passively) works.

As soon as I switch to a PC monitor, it works ok. I didn't buy the dock to use on a desk though. The official dock performs worse than third party usb-c hub adapters w/ hdmi.

Unplug the HDMI cable from your SDD, plop the SD onto the dock (everything is plugged in for power), turn your SD on and check for updates. It'll take two updates - one for the deck, one for the dock.

Came here bc I just got the steam deck and official valve dock and was having the same issue. All updates completed, restarts done and still no luck. Went into Roku TV settings and selected TV input and changed the hdmi mode for the port I was using from "auto (recommended)" to "standard". Now it's working fine. If auto and standard don't work for you, try "compatibility" as a last resort. Hope that helps.

Pretty much had the same problem, the TV detects it, but no signal and the steam deck even while plugged into the dock does indeed work and basicly is plugged in and transfers it but...it feels like my smart TV is blocking it.

I also have a similar issue. I have TCL 55C647 If I try 4k or even 2k gaming. it wont work. just getting disconnecting until it wont show on your tv. but if I only switch my resolution to 1080p. it doesn't have any issue.

unplug the charger from the dock.... it will work. Then after a bit, plug it back in. Don't ask me how that works but it did.
