Dev's why are fumbling the marketing? 😭

You know found about The Mermaid's Tongue? It came to me in a dream and that's barely hyperbole. I just had a random thought yesterday like wow "i loved that Tangle Tower game i wonder if their gonna make a sequel?" so i search it up expecting to skim through some articles that are like "yeah maybe, maybe not" only to found that you guys dropped the demo!?!?!. I check YouTube and you guys dropped trailers but no one knows to go check them out. Im not like a marketing expert so forgive me if im just talking out my ass but have you guys thought of like posting the trailer on the Tangle Tower announcement page? so that the people who played the first game will know that your making another?

Tangled Tower isn't even the first game in the series. It's the SECOND (third if you could the old flash game that may not be canon).

The game series goes as follows:

Detective Grimoire: Secret of the Swamp
Tangle Tower
The Mermaid's Tongue

Dunno why they dropped the Detective Grimoire part in the titles. And they are definitely connected because Grimoire first met Sally in Secret of the Swamp and also has Richard Remington in it (Remington being one of the the families mentioned in Tangle Tower, the family the titiular Tangle Tower originally belonged to, and one of the families Poppy Pointer, Flora Fellows and Fiona Fellows was related to.)

It's likely so they can market the games as standalone despite still being part of a series, though maybe it was also an internal decision. They spent like 7 years on Tangle Tower, with a massive 2 year break within so it must've felt like marketing it as just a sequel would've given people a wrong impression and force them to play the first lesser-quality game when Tangle Tower is perfectly playable without playing Secret of the Swamp (though it's still a great game and seeing the connections between them was still great). Mermaid's Tongue is just following that despite the similar connections to Tangle Tower (Felicia Stonetop).

I personally love the fact that all the games are connected in a subtle way. Even the flash game is referred in the first game.

I think it's a bit early to really "market" the game. It'd make sense for them to wait until they at least have a release date, that way people have an actual date to look forward to.

I just had the exact same experience as you. I follow a good amount of gaming news and completely missed it. I'm super happy but yeah, they should invest more on marketing

It was a big problem with Tangle Tower too. I learned about it from a random reddit post talking about mystery games. Then I looked it up and was blown away by how beautiful looking this game I never heard of was, and then I bought it and was more blown away by how great it was.

I don't know if the devs can partner with someone to advertise or something, because Tangle Tower is criminally underrated and I think this series has the potential to sell really well if more people know it exists. It's so well drawn and animated they only have to SEE it.

I promise there will be (multiple) marketing pushes for The Mermaid's Tongue, to get people interested!

For perspective though, The Mermaid's Tongue already has over 6 times the number of Wishlists that Tangle Tower had at its launch.

Something else that factors into this - we've got two games coming out this year, and Crow Country is coming out first :)

In the meantime, you can help generate interest in The Mermaid's Tongue by telling friends about it, posting about it on social media, etc. Thanks!! :)

Come on Adam, I started playing SFB Studios games from "Haunt the House" of flash game and saw a billboard for Detective Grimoire at the North Pole level of Terrortown-ver on Andriod. I immediately played this game and found out that I had played its flash version a long time ago. The worldview of this series is interesting like "Rusty Lake", which can tell many stories. I also like Sally's voice actor Amber's lazy voice and funny dry jokes.
I hope this series of games can continue to be released, and I will always support you two.

I'm just wondering if the marketing pushes will have suspect reveals/voice actor reveals. That's what really gets the excitement bug in my brain jittering around (but take all the time you need, of course)

I found out about this today even though I'm a fan of all previous Detective Grimoire games - from a friend who sent me the trailer for Crow Country and I recognized the devs!

Can I make a suggestion? Come up with a name for the series. It's a lot easier to search for:
"Grimoire and Sally Mysteries(or whatever): The Mermaid Mask" than just "Mermaid Mask".
You can just search for the franchise name instead of needing to know the specific name.

My order of discovery was Crow Country demo, then played through Tangle Tower last night (loved it!). Now going back to play Detective Grimoire and wait for The Mermaid Mask. Horror is less my thing, but I might even play Crow Country after that.
