As i know, the vigor is the health you have in the battle, its difference from the character health, if your vigor reachs 0, you wont die and just lose the battle, the energy i only know thats like your stamina, you can sneak more faster, run, jump, climb etc. you can increase your vigor wearing good weapons or clothes or learning inner kungfu manuals, the same for the vigor, you can eat miraculous medicines too.

i think if u get knocked out and ur vigor goes to 0 i think it takes some of ur health away and if u keep losing battles and ur health drops to 0 u die.
least thats what i think this game really dont explain things that well imo lang barrier is iffy
hoping they improve on the lang more some of that is so weird i dont even bother reading the convos.

still fun as hell tho n hope they can keep improving feel like this is a lil hidden gem like kenshi was

"Health" is the number of hexes you have in your meridian screen. When health goes down, it's because there's an ailment on one or more of those hexes. This can be things like fire, ice, toxin, hysteria, blindness etc., and is mostly separate from Vigor except for the case where getting beaten to below 0 vigor will start applying "internal injury" ailments to your meridian.

Unfortunately, Vigor is a bit of a wibbly translation and it gets variably called other things like "Blood". If something says it requires 1500 health, it almost certainly must mean vigor, because a meridian with 1500 hexes would be ludicrously massive (and there are only a couple ways of expanding it to begin with).

To keep this going, anyone know a good, repeatable way to get a lot of vigor? I’m pretty sure I’ve simply got too far into the endgame and the rate of enemy strength growth has hit some kind of weird exponential surge, but I’ve run into other characters who have… 23000 vigor. Yes, 5 digits, not a joke. I managed to beat them because I’ve got the chi of the sun at level 5, golden bell, and an item that heals me when I do damage. I basically win a long war of attrition. Their abilities thankfully don’t get too crazy… except for the SPIKES, and one that is so obscene I cannot even believe the devs put it in. Called Hurl the World. You throw half your coins, and every 10 coins deal 1 damage, if I recall correctly. Thing is, the character vigor and chi values didn’t just get inflated, their wallets did, too. One of em had 250000 coins. Basically, an instant kill on me no matter what. No way to win, unless I have so much stuff on me that I can trade away all their coins, which is feasible with those pills that change your meridians. So yeah, in summary, I want to know if anyone knows anything I can do repeatedly to get more vigor, to bridge the gap. It might be that I just need to retreat to a new miniworld, and evacuate the Great Wilds, until a patch is done to prevent hyper inflation.

Did stronger people just show up over time? I just finished the game and only have just over 2000 vigor, strongest people in my world only have about 9000 vigor. There doesn't seem to be any way at all for the player to increase it with items which is lame. Pretty sure I've found almost every technique at this point too.

When I first placed and tried out the tournament, almost everyone there was in the 3-4k range, with a couple 2k beggars trying to do their best.

...and then there was one dude who had over 24,000 for no apparent reason. A sect leader, sure, but the other leaders were in the high-4k range like usual. I checked his items/inners afterwards and there was nothing there to explain why his values were so wildly out of proportion compared to everyone else in the world.

Feeling like this was a bit unfair, I... Well, I plonked down a bar table near him which he instantly ran over to, then I started buying rounds and drank him under the table thanks to my Drunken Immortal inner, at which point I took his head off.

Yeah yeah, Ill Fate karma and all that, but I wanted to see if it'd work. And, well, it did xD

I've played many hours since then and just about quadrupled the size of the world, and nobody since has had anywhere near that amount of vigor. No idea what causes it.

Also, RE: Hurl the World... It's possible to defend against it somewhat via skills that steal/block the opponent's skills, such as Star Transfers and Acupoint-Blocking Technique, or skills that eat up enough of the opponent's moves that they can't get the palm+dart combo to activate it. But yeah, it's rough... Especially going into a friendly sparring match with someone and they whip that out and straight up kill you xD It's a pretty ridiculous skill all in all. Literally throwing money at problems to make them go away.

All npc with 20k+ vigor possibly have true law karma bonus

But doesn't that count as an inner kung-fu? Therefore it should show up on the character's list of inners, like Primordial Chaos does. That's exactly the sort of thing I was looking for with the instance I ran into.

I think that, because you can't teach the True Method inner kung-fu to others, it doesn't show up in a characters list of inner kung-fu.

Beggin’ your pardon, but I must have missed something, and I’ve been EVERYWHERE. I cannot find this True Law thing. I eventually came up with my own broken technique by hoarding chi medicine until I had over 600 chi, and then I started to use Wave Palm on a Sun Qi build to slaughter everybody who attacked me. Huanmos get oneshot if I use it. The 23k character I made into my wife, as part of an experiment to see how OP the child becomes. Also, I opened the Heavenly Gate… I’m guessing they haven’t implemented anything for after that? Nothing changed for me. And one last thing, as an ask to everybody… what the nine hells do you do to get the “secrets of the [insert family here]?” I gotta get my forging to sage, as well and my establishment and others, and I can’t find the way to do it. Nobody has anything to say about it at the location it generates, no item sold there I can use, nada.

True Law is the reward for a specific karma unlock with very advanced and involved requirements. It grants absolutely obscene stats.

As for the families, that's apparently glitched in the English version... Currently, the only way I know of to do it is to talk about forging/weaving/whatever with relevant NPCs (smiths, tailors, you get the idea). Every time you talk with someone about the topic, you get 5% of the XP to reach the next level, meaning you'll get to Sage after 20 such conversations.

Also this is going very far off-topic, and deeply into spoiler territory.

Thank you. I’ll have to find the blasted True Law thing, I’ve apparently overlooked it even though I’ve been hoarding every Inner Karma and Skill I can locate.

The methods for acquiring it are... Not obvious, to say the least. There's apparently some quest line that will start up if you're on the right track and hint towards the rest of the way, but I'm not sure when that starts or how butchered it is by the translation.

But if my understanding of the requirements is correct, you'll need to die at least three times after attaining specific milestones.

Spoilered specifics:
You'll need to die after completing each of these three goals: 1) Acquire 1,000,000 coins (and have them on you when you die), 2) Have 30 feuds active when you die, and 3) Have 30 intimate relationships active when you die.

Once you've returned to karma after each one of those instances, you'll unlock the "ultimate" karma option which will provide you with the True Law inner kung-fu for that character.
