Can't Increase Vigor
stuck around 1500ish vigor even though my Tortoise Fist can deal 8800 damage and I'm transcendental, which means I can't fight anyone higher than supreme because they one shot me if I'm unlucky with my first turn moves.

how do I get more vigor to match these other transcendental powerhouses who all seem to average 7000 vigor?

Typically you need more than one character to get really high though.

If you meidtate under swallow falls waterfall you can get 50 vigor per day for a few times, meditating at the giant sword on the flying sword desert tile can either increase chi or vigor (meridians is the vigor option) but it doesn't always work.

level up iron bone ability, can just stand in the thorns in the eagle area and it raises it really quick.

Last one is completely the Kung Fu tourney, and follow the story from there. You get something from that which helps with the first point.
I suppose I will have to search for the primordial chaos inner breathing technique as well as the waterfall and flying sword. My iron bone is sage and like you say, I maxed it when I realized the thorns at eagle leveled it up really fast haha.

I've also been double dipping but I haven't actually spent the time on these 'once a day' things due to any one character never lasting longer than about 5 or 10 days.

What do you mean more than one character though? Like at the start screen where there are three pillars for character selection?

Popemaster gave you some great information about raising your vigor. You can also create new worlds and use the waterfall in Swallow Falls or the giant sword in Flying Sword Meadows again.

However, If you find this too cheaty or do not want to create new worlds, you can acquire and activate the Breathing Skill meridian technique. You can gain Qi (1, 2, or 4) a day by meditating during morning (6:00 to 8:00), depending on the level of your Breathing Skill (assign it with the upgrade arrows next to the level indicator of the technique in your Meridian tab). Alternatively, there is a toggle to the left on the Breathing Skill tab that allows you to instead gain Vigor (5, 20, or 60) by meditating in the evening (18:00-20:00). It's slow, but it is a renewable source of max vigor if you do not wish to world hop.

You may need to learn a skill to invert Breathing Skill, unfortunately, I do not remember where I got the skill to enable it.

Where exactly is this toggle for the vigor in the breathing skill tab? I cannot see it at all lol and I can't tell if I am blind or if I just haven't unlocked it yet.

EDIT: ok, so I hadn't unlocked the inverse one which is why I couldn't see it. You csn find "Inversion Breathing Skill", and it's from a certain quest.
Quest can be found at Maple Manor, it's called Half the Secret.
To beat the quest, Go to "Hare Ear Pass" and there is A small ledge on the inside of the mountain.”

Ok big, haven't been anything more than an orphan so far and didn't realize parents passed off their stats

It's basically the same as having a child ingame, it will base the kids stats off both your PC and the NPC you have the baby with.

Where do I access this toggle? Meridians screen doesnt have it?

Nevermind, its explained two posts above this one: Gotta finish the quest for the second half of the book you find at maple manor. the second half is on a small ledge inside the mountain at hare ear pass (desert area) for sake of posterity in case said comments gets deleted.

The best thing i've encountered is

This is good to know. Thankies!

Similarly if you get a hex called "Flying Sword Meadow" you can do a short "quest" to gain access to a once per day +50 Vigor meditation. Requires a little Weapon Skill to start, though.

That was what I meant! Also worth noting, I thought it sometimes failed, but it seems it always adds to vigor if you choose the meridian option, it just doesn't tell you it does this.

if you want to game the system a little you can keep creating new worlds and add these two tiles and keep repeating. That's 500 vigor per world if you can be patient enough (I cannot haha).

You need Pristine birthright (Karma) + Primordial chaos (inner Kungfu) I'm at 12k vigor - 6K energy - 480 spirit, after 400 spirit I think you can only go higher by using a very rare potion ;)

My 2nd character was named Sacrifice with one job to grab the 1M gold I left her and to die a painful fiery death as quick as she could, all to unlock something very special for her brother the chosen one.
However sending Sacrifice to do a mans jobs was a painful affair as she got herself robbed on the way to her painful death so I needed to load back to before I created her for round two :(

Like how hard is it to grab money from a chest and run 300m to your death ? Silly Sacrifice! less we forget...

Also Sky is the limit via breeding/killing your new made character with another new made to steal their jades rinse repeat ect however not necessary by any means, I have put over 100hrs testing all parts of the game and the dev has put some really cool things/mechanics in if you take the time to notice/muck around ;)

ps I have not done any of the meditating people above have mentioned.

One of the fastest way is to trigger a poet swordsman who tells you that there are no heroes in the world or something. You usually trigger her quite early, If you go to karma you can reroll her as a parent, i had 6500 Vigor from the start. You also can use a tutorial guy, but his surname is weird, so i chose the sworsman.
Also if you make an enemy AND a parent from the same person you'll have a grudge with a parent with positive attitude, since parenthood outweight grudge. Kinda funny.

I have 8000 vigor and i don't think you need more, since I have Tortoise fist with 15k damage and Wine drinking song wiht 12k damage. I defeated NPC with 40k vigor (i used mod to make them stronger.)

I'll give you a numbered list of what I did to raise my STARTER CHARACTER to almost 20k vigor with an incomplete build and WITHOUT swapping mini worlds.

0. Breathing Skill (Once you activate it, meditate from 6AM to 8AM to get CHI, find Inverted Breathing and meditate from 6PM to 8PM to get VIGOR, you can get inverted breathing super early)

1. Art of Marrow Refining

2. Body Forging Art (The more overloaded with weight you are, the more vigor you get)

3. Meridian dipping (Google the english guide for it if you need an example)

3. Meditate under the waterfall (Swallow Falls tile, 5 times total)

4. Meditate at the base of the mountain sword (Flying Sword Meadow)

5. Fortune Jades (Select Vigor as priority, Load to help you move while using body forging art, Chi isn't that important as you can get Yi Jing Brahma which gives you ton of chi and ganodermas + pills, so you won't be starved for chi once you find them)

6. Join HEAVEN'S END PALACE SECT (Secret Sect, Talk to Elder > Influence > Influence Gameplay > Star Shifting, now those two options are crazy, the first one let's you ENHANCE an existing meridian accupoint up to level 5, so 1 vigor accupoint gives 15 points, at level 5, 1 vigor accupoint gives 75 points, so level up your accupoints AND make sure to also use the 2nd DIALOGUE OPTION IN THE INFLUENCE TEXT TREE, that one let's you add 4 EXTRA ACCUPOINTS, which you can also level up)

7. Once you have enough accupoints from Primordial Chaos, if you go to your Inner Kung Fu list and hover over Art of Marrow Refining, you will see two arrows at the end of the text, press the arrow pointing up, congrats, now your Marrow Refining is level 2, doubling your bonus, you can take it to level 3 which is max for more stats once you ENHANCE your accupoints, see number 6.

8. After you are done with your accupoints and Heaven's End Palace, make sure you have SAGE Forging and SAGE Weaving

9. Now that your forging and weaving are maxed, join SKYDRAGON PAVILLION and interact with ANY forge on the map to use CELESTIAL FORGING, now here comes the biggest boost to your vigor in the whole game.

10. Celestial Forging allows you to add up to 5 BONUSES ON YOUR GEAR, what this means is, you can SACRIFICE ANY GEAR with VIGOR at the forge to extract the vigor bonus, THEN you add it to whatever gear piece you want.

11. By following step 10, your gear would look like this: +50% Vigor, +50% Vigor, +50% Vigor, +50% Vigor, +50% Vigor. Now this is an insane boost, if you were to add all that vigor to the CRIMSON ALLIGATOR chest piece (I'm missing the blueprint), which comes with a default bonus of 100% Vigor, just do the math of 100% vig + 50% vigor(times 4), and that is just ONE gear piece.

But Mex, you ask, what about damage?
Well, you go to Eagle Hunt Platform at the meditation spot, press acquire mnemonic and choose the FIST one, it's called DILLIGENCE, you can use it on ANY, spell / ability card, it stacks to 20, it takes a skill from like 2k damage to almost 20k damage if you also level that skill, add in the FIERCE STRIKE or PULSE FLOW or CHARGED ATTACK mnemonics to the missing slots, and now you one shot everything in the game, I had this obscene damage way before I started grinding for my vigor, I had like 5k vigor and nothing in the game could survive 1 round with my character, but I like big numbers so yeah, had to get that vigor too.

If you understand how crafting works(forging, weaving, leechcraft), you can do some really good stuff, since they all play a direct role in powering you up (celestial forging , weaving to make beginner armor in legendary rarity to get all the vigor bonuses you want to extract them with forging, or forging easy legendary swords to feed them into the swordcase, and of course, leechcrafting to get a bunch of chi boosting medicines).

Once I get crimson alligator and I finish celestial forging all my gear, I am sure I can break over 30k vigor with my STARTING character, and if you want even more obscene stats, steal a swordcase from the swordhouse sect, steal the legendary one from the elder or the sect master and sacrifice legendary swords to it, good luck.

Sorry for the wall of text but I hope this helps anyone that comes across this post in the future.

Returning to karma is a HUGE portion of character progression. Once you unlock the Noble Scion karma it gets even stronger... Im on my fourth character and I start with around 18000 vigor...

Those are some great tips. It seems Im not even starting to tap the full potential of my character progression...
