First character is still trapped

I went to the mountain, got to the heaven gate, opened it, watched the cutscene, and nothing happened. the gate is still closed, and my character is still locked up. The NPCs that were involved in the cutscene are currently wandering around, and whenever i attempt to open it again, it teleports me to the place where the cutscene should happen. This might have been caused by me reloading the save before I saved my character, but after the cutscene, because I didn't realize that I had to actually carry him out. I want the man back, any thoughts?

tried, still can't select main guy. Do you mean I should go to the mountain on a new world?

You have to interact with the cell your old character is locked in just below the heavens gate.

You also have to do it in the world your character got captured in. Else it won't register. Ran into that myself.

Where is it that you interact with the cell? I've been trying to find a sweet spot but there's just no place that I can interact with before I get caught by the guards.

After defeating the Huanmos Servants, run up to the cell, and stand near the cell. See screenshot. Interact with Break Shackles.

How do you defeat the guards? I have been waiting for someone to come talk to me since the first character got locked up, but nobody has, so I went to the mountain and can only beat 2 or 3 before their 4k damage stacks too much to kill me.

It is very important to note that you must defeat each of the Huanmos Servants by the start of round two or at the very most with a combination of skill cards and your normal moves at the end of the second round. If you do not, the Huanmos Servant will "instant kill" you with their skill "Annihilate" at the start of his/her turn to use their skill cards against you.

This is how I did it in my game world.

Step 1: I geared up my original character to use COLD attack. You will need the weapon "Snow Slayer" along with inner kungfu "Freeze Spell" and weapon card "Snow-melting Sword".

Step 2: Slowly draw each of the Huanmos Servants one at a time to fight/battle. Apply as much cold onto the Huanmos Servants as possible. Ideally, you should be able to apply at least 20-31 cold in the first round and also activate your skill card "Snow-melting Sword". At the start of round 2, use "Snow-melting Sword" to kill the Huanmos Servant. There is a benefit to using cold as your primary attack in the event you cannot kill him/her by the start of the second round or end of second round. If the NPC have a stack of 20-40 cold on itself, you'll have a chance to "Frozen" the NPC. If this happens, simply "take the head" of the frozen Huanmos Servant to nullify it in a future "rescue" battle.

Step 3: Repeat step 2 until you have only 1 Huanmos Servants left (there is a total of 8 or 9 Huanmos Servants) and DO NOT kill the last servant. Allow yourself to be captured and advance the story.

Step 4: Go back to the island with your second generation character and defeat the final remaining Huanmos Servants and interact with the Heaven Gate for a nifty cutscene. Finally, run back down to break shackles near the cell to free your imprisoned first character. Enjoy playing both characters and or seeing each other in the game world from now on.

To defeat the guards in three easy steps:

1) Craft Snow Slayer. (Unresistable cold every hit)

2) Get Acupoint-Blocking Hand (Disables their skills and their attacks are all void so they cannot hurt you without skills) and a palm // kick build setup.

3) Pull one at a time, jump up and engage in combat with them- make sure to use Acupoint-Blocking Hand and then freeze them. (And then take their heads and beautiful armor)


You will have a lot of poison by the way, but that's not really an issue, but if you got spider palm you can slap around some people I guess.
