How do you join a sect?

Some NPC told me about sects, asked me which one I'd be interested in, got a map tile from that, which I'm guessing has the sect in it, but I can't figure out how to join it. In this case it was the one for hidden weapon.

Yeah the new area you build is the sect base of operations. If you go to it, you should see a sort of stone gate entrance somewhere. A bulletin board will be right outside it and if you click it and pick view, you can see requirements, leader, etc. Button on right bottom is JOIN to join them.

Also can sometimes get a member to ask you to join.
