Pets also can learn some inner cultivation methods by swimming.
It is possible to teach them 'Fly on Snow' (it seems to be achieved by overloading their backpacks) and 'Fly on Water' (jumping on water while they follow, but it is tedious).
Pets are useful in the beginning because their moves can counter adversary's moves, thus, preventing the use of special skills. As the game progresses, currently available pets become a nuisance (they are too slow and cannot catch up), except for horses (carts seem to have no weight limit), snakes (they automatically attack thieves and poisoners), and ferrets (they look for hidden treasures).
I use my monkeys to beg for money (not that I need more of it, but it keeps them in one place). I also get hens for eggs. I ended up pausing all my pets (except snakes and ferrets) near my main base (it just occurred to me that I should try to order them to guard it). I summon my horse when I need to unload things.
Overall, pets are not worth bothering with if you are looking to enhance your combat power. They do offer some minimal utility, though.
I have a big sect but am still running around and taking care of small things.
Unfortunately the AI is quite braindead at the moment. Not sure how they will be able to make the AI smarter, considering how much of the GPU the game already uses.
