How to remove Ill fate Karma?

I've been beaten back to Karma, and yet it still won't disappear and I'm sure it's the cause of NPCs hating me for no reason

It's stupid because lucky under a star Karma disappeared after going back to karma but not Ill Fate

I'd prefer to not delete all data, if anyone can provide a solution, it'd be very appreciated.

Ill fate is caused by murdering an innocent npc. You can get rid of it by donating money to the incense burner thingy.

Bury the dead and visit their graves from time to time to gain merits: 100 for burying and 1 for each grave sweeping (costs 30 coins). It is cheaper than donating using the censor (it is 1000 coins for 1 merit point).

Ironic, as I killed an NPC that wanted me dead, didn't know that counted as them being innocent, but cheers

Are there any updates on this? How many do you need to bury to clear Ill Fate? Or do you need to reincarnate and have the Ill Fate on a character before you can start clearing it? I've been doing all kinds of things to increase merit but have had no apparent progress towards fixing it.
