Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance

Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance

What Difficulty to Play On?
First time playing, started with the elf sorceress on Normal, and am getting annihilated in the sewers. Should I restart on Easy or is this more an early game issue? With the save system, it doesn't seem like there is a way to grind XP either, but maybe that changes later?

Difficulty setting depends on you as a player. If you're having trouble, no shame in lowering difficulty.

As for grinding, you start a new game, and pull your character from your other save into it with the load character option.

The game is also vastly easier if you're playing with a friend co-op as it was definitely designed around that when people played this on the PS2 back in the day.

Running solo and I don't think that'll change.

My wife and I are playing it on easy mode in co-op. We started on normal, but at some point, we took our characters and started over on easy. We've played many games in this format, but it must be said that the game is not well-balanced. Sometimes you can rush through, and sometimes you have to proceed cautiously.

I recommend playing it on easy.

I have the most fun starting a new character on normal, then once completed, importing that character into a hard playthrough, then once completed, importing that character into an extreme playthrough, then once completed, importing that character into yet another extreme playthrough, then once completed, importing that character into yet another extreme playthrough, then once completed, importing that character into yet another extreme playthrough. Lol

Better loot on higher difficulties?

So, Sorc main here from when this was on PS2 (1500 on Sorc ALONE). You have a crap early game, but by the time you hit late, you're just unstoppable.
Sorc could start on normal, chill and grind a lil, then just go into extreme not caring about anything because by that time, theyre already just annihilating everything.

Can you lower the difficulty if you already have a save or do you have to start again? My friend and I are struggling and want to drop down difficulty but we are 2 hours in.

You'll have to start a new game to change difficulty, but good news at least is you can load your leveled up characters and gold over so you're not starting over entirely fresh.
