I'l try to help you out. Lets start by answering some fast questions.
1) What are you using as bait? Some Baits do not last long enough.
2) How many boars died so far in this run? Aproximativly? Just because they show up for your yams here and there does not mean their population is very healthy.
3) can you clarify the name of the trap? Are you using a "Trapping Pit"?
1. Rice straw is the bait.
2. I've killed I think 4 boars, this is an older game from a few IRL months ago, day 247
EDIT: I very purposefully killed those boars once every other month, thinking they would replenish. The first boar died around day 100 if I remember right.
3. Yes, it is the trapping pit
Ah okey. Its the Bait.
Rice Straw will catch only Goats. Since there are no goats in jungle you are not catching anything.
Pigs in CSTI are actually not that picky at all you got really unlucky with your Bait choice. They will go for most vegies and most meats. I usually use eggs since they last a long time. I also used Yams and salted fish.
Also, does it matter if I cut up the yams or am I catching them with a whole yam? I'll try both.
yea yams should work.
Cage Trap will catch Macaques and Birds but nothing bigger than that.
EDIT: both whole and cut yams should work.
At high boar population game should replenish one boar in a bit under 6 days so your population should be maxed out. Traps are a bit faster than that so be carefull not to overtrap.
Good luck!
