Tourist Maque Friend
I got unlucky with not injuring a maque and cleared out the maque den. It seems like all the maques are now gone, does this mean that it's not possible to complete my tourist run? because you have to get a maque friend

Wait several days in game and check again, I read somewhere that an empty-looking den doesn't nessissarily mean they're extinct, just really low population. On another note, you should use a cage trap to catch them, it's much faster than attempting to injure one without the risk of killing all of them.

Thanks, I'm trying your idea and built 5 cage traps in wetlands, using eggs, caught 7 partridges so far, no macaque. Ill try a little more, looking like a dead end game.

If you don't mind using out of game knowledge, you can check your save file for the current macaque population.

C:\Users\"User Name"\AppData\LocalLow\WinterSpring Games\Card Survival - Tropical Island\Games

Open the JSON file and search for (Pop_Macaque). If "BaseValue" is 0, then they are extinct.

You can also edit that value if you want to bring them back. Setting it to 1000.0 should give you one macaque.

Thank you, I had looked in the JSON and made changes, but couldn't figure out the right one to change. Changed this and ran into a raiding one the first day afterwords which I haven't seen in 30 days, just gotta get one in a trap. Thanks! I should be able to complete my run.

Thanks, that was also very helpful to me.

Playing as the tourist and was having a really good run.
Apparently my Macaques harressed me to extinction. I only defended myself when they entered my plane and mostly killed them. I only had 1 injured one, which died, because I ran out of water to give him...
And now on day 75 I noticed the den is empty and that the pop is zero. So every single macaque threw himself at me without flinching and dooming their species. Oh well.

Its kind of cheating to now change the save game, but then again, its kind of unrealistic that every last one had only desire: harrass me until death.
