Animal Overpopulation

I know that you can hunt animals to extinction, and I know that animal populations affect one another, specifically between predators and prey. But what about the effects of the opposite? If I'm freeing birds by the travois load, does it surge predator populations, or harm plants, or get to the point that any explore action finds one?

Unfortunately as of now, animal populations have a cap, any that you breed and release past that cap just disappear. I think lowering predator population does increase your chances of finding partridges, but I'm not sure if it increases the cap itself.

I don't think the cap will increase if you keep releasing animals though.
