How, exactly, do you make aqua fortis?

I have some vitriol mix in a clay jar. I have an alembic on a campfire. How do I distill the vitriol to get the aqua fortis? I don't have a recipe for it that I can see to research. What am I missing here?

Aqua fortis is nitric acid you must mix niter (potassium nitrate) into the vitriol put it in the alembic and distill it with a container to collect the run off. This should be nitric acid aka aqua fortis.

I have niter crystals, and I ground some so I also have salt peter. I couldn't seem to add either to the vitriol mix.

To be more specific: I have both "vitriol" and "vitriol mix" and I can't put either one in my alembic.

Last I checked you make dissolved niter via saltpeter and vitriol and the dissolved niter is put into the alembic which is put onto a lit campfire. The dissolved niter will then distill in the alembic inside the fire and the liquid that comes out will be nitric acid.

If that is not working it may be a bug.

Try adding the saltpeter to the finished vitriol, not the "vitriol mix", which is a crafting intermediate for vitriol.

Make sure the Alembic is placed on the campfire before you fill it.
