Bay, Beach is easy enough, even if you start in desolate beach you won't encounter the Monitor Lizards early on.
Try it. You'll have to take some pretty brutal "perks" to get up to 10000 without the mermaid stuff. No rain perks either. I think they may be something of an exploit. I know lots of rain comes with it's own problems but taking out the need to find water is an overpowered bonus in my opinion.
You gonna stay there or eventually move out? Shellfish would also have some water though provided you eat it raw for water sustenance, also Aloe Vera Gel as a last resort but you need charcoals first.
Edit: Aloe Vera gel you can eat for hydration.
No, I won't stay on the coast but it's proving hard to survive long enough to get off it. I'm trying to find out if other players have tried hopeless without mermaid perks and extreme rain benefits.
