are there other ways to start a fire

i was hoping for flint and steel or a better way to start fires is there something i missed or am i stuck with the hand drill

Once you upgrade your skill and unlock the blueprint, you cam make a fire drill, which is more efficient. But that's about it, except for manufactured items you can start with via perks.

Advance method when you have a lot of charcoal stored for kiln or Advance kiln, Make sure to get a Lit Tinder in inventory at 20:00-20:30 game time, put 4 charcoals and use the tinder to light it up, now you have a 24 hour fire starter which saves you time when you need lit tinders, lit tinders last around 1 hour and 30 minutes the last 15 minutes being the expiration time.

Palm leaves excess is good to use to fill it up too, and chopped wood if you need to.

Never settle on using fire starters unless it's an emergency, set up that kiln fast, if you really need to extend lit tinder times you can chain them but only for an hour and 15 minutes each time.

I don't remember exactly but I think we ever had an ember carrier where you can put tinder or stick, alternatively the bee smoker is also like that but it's heavy to lug around unlit and when lit can't be stored but it lasts a while and only need 1 tinder material to fill up to full so there's also that.

Embers can be taken from fire sources with maxed out charcoal but it only lasts 6 tp. Bee smoker is probably the most efficient way, using one tinder for 16.
Bee smoker works as a light source, btw. It is good enough if you don'e need to cook.

50%. It takes a while. The fastest way to grind it is making and disassembling tourniquets. Space 3 hours between each training to avoid staleness penalties.

Embers take 15 minutes though, not something you wanna do each time you need a lit tinder.

Forever fire source is better overall for long plays, each day you don't use a fire starting tool saves you time and those add up to be able to do other things.

It is probably isolation, which gives penalties as days go by. Try to make and wear as many clothing as possible. Eating prepared food and smelling aromatic candles/flowers also helps.

Citronella candles easiest to make stack like 4-6 when you nap/sleep. Bonus if you use Jasmine to like 2-4 Citronella 2-4 Jasmine, your Mudhut/Shed should have medium house comfort by day 90 at least, easier is to make two stoves, a chair, table, bookshelf with Wood/ Ivory carvings or Coral/Calcite Crystals put there on display.

Also day 90 plus the Hunter apparition will come and make you go bonkers till you dispatch him forever, sent him to Jesus with 100% spear skill, flint spear and a wooden shield only.

Ah yes flowers... You can use clay Jars to put Jasmine flowers in them to boost comfort and happiness too, add water unclean/clean then put them Jasmines for emergency sanity relief outside candles in your shelter.

The Hunter only appears if you let your mental state get out of hand. If you keep yourself comfortable enough, you will never encounter it.

Indeed it does especially if you Build your house comforts late, the effects of Isolation day 90 onwards is extreme without medium comfort it's a downward spiral. Although I like hunting him the earliest as possible on every game I don't want no Apparition scum haunting my Island and splitting ownership. 😂
