How to beat the hunter
I was enjoying the game but the hunter is kind of annoying.
Till day 25-30 all was okay but im now in a nerver ending loop of beeing hunted into stress. Im super stressed for 20 days now so i cant make any progress in the game. I only got flint and a shelter.
How can i end this? The Hunterloop ruins the game for me at this point.

Not only is it important to take care of your physical health, but you also need to take care of your mental health in game. Stress is a stat you should pin and take care of constantly. A good way to lower stress is to build a sand castle at the star and end of each day along with diving in he sea at the beach twice a day. Only dive at the bay if you are willing to encounter a shark. Another big factor is your mental structure and isolation stat. The best thing to do is to start working on a mud hut around day 30ish and work on comfort upgrades to combat the isolation stat. Isolation stat never goes down, but will max out at day 90.

It is also a good idea to move your base into the Jungle as coastal areas will make living in these areas really difficult. Make the hut and do most of you activities at your base. When storms appear in the wet season, it will make travelling in coastal areas take longer and destroy items there as well.

It might be best to start over if possible.

Hi Spaceball!

Best way to beat the hunter is to face it. Let him catch up to you and make sure to have your best spear equipped. Try to train your spear whenever you can too.
The higher your speafighting skill and spear quality the higher the chances of defeating it are. Having a shield equipped can also help.
If you fail, don't despair and try again the next time he comes. :)

Ich have Metal Spear 100% plus shield. 3rd Time not beeting him close to killing myself...Kinda destroys the game fun for me tbh.

I killed him on the third try. Would be pretty cool if his mark stayed as a permanent scar (without debuff).

Well Congratz... But dunno...Its Kinda meh. A boss u cant beat by the time he reaches you, then over 30 days of getting nothing done due to stress and derealization leading to certain death seems quite unballanced. I mean honestly im not even playing on hard...I need to get my water storage going before dry season, almost no time for building a mudhud until then. And then when u think oh finally im prepped for dry season. this ♥♥♥♥♥♥ comes ruinin the game fun. So whats the point ... rush till the Raft? For me thats quite unsatisfying i want to stay on island but cant due to imbeatable Hunter. I have the best Weapons i can get at this point and my skill is maxed out but still cant beat him.

I didn't mean to downplay how tough Hunter is. The chance of beating him is quite low on any roll. In my current game I pushed to get a good water supply and then got camp fever. I finally fought that off only to sink into self destructiveness and had to deal with Watcher and Hunter at the same time.

This game really kicks you when you're down, often when you're doing everything right to try to tip you into a death spiral. The only advice for the Hunter is to keep trying to fight him and accept that you're unlikely to get anything productive done while you're fighting off mental health events (which are now almost as bad as things like camp fever).

Btw even after beating that thing, I still cant lower my Stress lvl properly and still am derealizing, Still altered mind, Still getting haunted in the night. No idea how to fix that

If its the Watcher, try sleeping with the lights on (eg fire going all night). Spend time talking to Weston every 8 hours to get loneliness down (but then once a day only once loneliness is low as talking to a coconut lowers mental structure). Go diving at the beach and make a sandcastle once a day to get entertainment up. Make sure to sleep (not just nap) as much as you can as it increases mental structure much better. Being hungry or thirsty is bad for stress and being normal weight is a good idea too.

Basically any negative status impacts on other negative statuses, so if you're in pain from an injury this will impact your mental health. If all else fails, consider getting blitzed off palm wine and magic mushrooms to get your happiness up.

Okay Lights on i can try. But sleeping increases my stress for some reason like crazy...is it cause the lights are off?

I think watcher increases stress when you sleep in the dark yes. But it could also be the usual draining from loneliness, low food, low water etc. You'll have to eventually stare down the watcher when his event triggers, but its hard if your determination is too low.

Okay making Progress...not stressed anymore. But i still cant get out of the "being lonely, being depressed" cycle. Lonelyness isnt going down even though im loner. I talk to weston every 8 hours or so, i build sand castle, go dive, even carve. I drink Jasmin or Ginger plus alcohol some times. Nothin changes. depression level is at max. Lonely at max. , derealization wont get down. altered state of mind wont go down. Cycle of bullshittery. I mean its cool, realistic and all...but there has to be a way out. I played the game for hours and hours a day. Now im not even interested in more than an hour (testing the things u tell me) then frustration again.

HI Luna del Rey!

I suspect your current problem is probably isolation which can really have a very negative effect on your loneliness.
As the game progresses isolation slowly increases until it caps on day 90. This stat can never be reduced, so all you can do is fight and control its effects.
Isolation can have the following effects on you:
- Increases loneliness
- Lowers mental structure.
- Lowers morale.
- Makes it easier to reach altered mind states.

The best way to fight isolation is to have a comfortable base of operations. Comfort can really lower the effects of isolation, specially loneliness and mental structure damage so it's essential to to build a good home that is well equipped with furniture, improvements and decorations if you are planning to stay in the island for long periods of time.
If you manage to get a home with a high comfort, and you talk to weston regularly you should be able to get rid of all that loneliness. Having macaque friends can also help of course, as well as petting goats and spending time with them.

Okay...srsly? IMO impossible to do before day 90 unless maybe youre super experienced. I barely managed to survive dry season and had to do a lot of prep work to do so. At half the first dry season Hunter ♥♥♥♥♥♥ me up, and now dry season is over and im past day 90 the Spiral of Lonelyness is already there. The time Period before reaching max Isolation is way to small. Thanks for your comment but if thats the case... im not even really interested in doing another try. Cause if its all the time this way...quite unfun after day 60.

Im sorry you are not having fun anymore. For me part of the challenge is going through, learning to have better runs so those issues crop up less and less. The game has to have its limitations though. But good luck out there, i hope you find the enjoyment you had before. I recommend , since you have already put in a lot of time, to go watch some youtubers do runs. Might give you inspiration to keep playing!
