Soaking yam and sago

How do you soak sago and yam once they have been cut? I tried using water in containers and from reservoir but none seen to be working.

you need coconut shell or clay bowl

Half a bowl is enough, though, and yam can be soaked in salt water.

can you soak them in unsafe water? Or will that mess you up?

i think it's safe but i'm not 100% sure
you can do it with kawa too
