Torniquet
What happens if you leave the torniquet on for too long? What does "nerve damage" mean?
If I'm going to bleed out and die if I take it off, what am I supposed to do if I don't have a needle?

Permanent debuff, learned it the hard way. You wouldn't want to get there.

you get a +15 minute time to every leg or hand action for the rest of the game. It is really bad avoid it at all costs.

you do not need a needle. Just replace the tourniquete with a bandage when the game warns you to take it of and that is it. The wound will clot and stop bleeing before you bleed out.

There's no benefit to suturing the laceration over using the tourniquet?

Man, you should do suture when you can. The laceration already give you max pain so there is nothing to lose.

Plus there will be some times where you're out exploring and your bandage rots suddenly in which you'll bleed again.

Both IRL and in game, You can pressure bandage the wound, release the Tourniquet, wait a couple minutes for the blood to refill the limb, and reapply the Tourniquet... The nerve damage is caused by a lack of circulation to the rest of the limb but blood circulates in 60 seconds or less so yeah it is a real strategy for such an issue...

I did this. I got the warning and took off the torniquet, put the bandage on. But since I was about to die from blood loss, I put the torniquet back on and got the message "you shouldn't have left it on for too long!"

I think the issue here is the game doesn't tell you exactly how long you are supposed to leave it off for. 15 minutes? 1 hour? 2 hours?

One hour, the game said so. The one made with fabric I think can go for a bit longer, at least until the bleeding stops.

I do not think this is implemented in the game. In my experience if you have tourniquete on for to long, regardless if I take it of for 15 minutes multiple times it will still acumulate the nerve damage all the same as if if it was on all the time.

Delay will only be the time it was not on. You gain nothing by juggling it with a bandage. Once the game tells you you should take it of you should take it of and do not put it back on.

There a banefit of course it is. OP asked what happens if he does not have a needle. I just reassured him while needle is great and all you should suture the wound if you can but if you cant it is not deadly.

Tourniquete -> Bandage -> Done.

It will heal faster if you stich it up though but you will not die if you do not have a needle yet...

I mean tourist starts with a deadly wound and no needle. Turns out you can manage it with tourniquete and a bandage just fine.

Keep in mind though!

There was a bug relativly recently that made it so that when you suture the wound with the needle it would start bleeding again. If that happens just report the bug.

Good luck!

I had a wound and just put bandage over it and it wasn't enough, still bled out. it wasn't even a major laceration just a minor one.

Are you sure it was not a major laceration?

There is a small laceration the picture shows like a very small cut.
There is a major laceration the picture shows a pretty nasty gaping wound.

You maybe got confused because "major laceration" is just a nick name we use for the big thing to easily talk about it.

In hte game i think it cames in 3 types I am not sure exactly how they are called
a) Leg Laceration
b) Arm Laceration
c) I am not sure if a body laceration is still in game its called just "Laceration" i think.

So unless the thing says "Minor Laceration" and looks pretty harmless you will bleed out unless you put a tourniquete on for a bit and then replace it with a bandage after couple of hours have passed.
