Question about malnourishment
So I have a pretty decent run this time, with mud hut, coop with 14 chickens etc, and i thought I live pretty decent. But suddenly I ran into a boar and lost, after that while treating the wound I got malnourished.

Is it because i'm wounded, or because of my diet?
I think i have mostly eggs, raw and roasted, sometimes boiled, sago slime, banana, and occasionally chicken sandwich, or fish.

Can you guys explain why I got malnourish please? and how dangerous is it? does it get more dangerous when the bar gets lower or the other way around?

Thanks

All I know is that lower is bad and you want it full. Other than that I'm not sure what the best diet should be or the best way to prevent it.

Hi there Noobest!
The malnourishment is likely caused by the wound yes. When hurt or sick you burn extra calories, so that can eventually result in malnutrition if you are not eating enough to compensate for it .

To recover from malnutrition try to eat heavier foods like boar meat or prepared meals and try to avoid heavy exercise like chopping wood, walking too much, climbing or swimming.
Malnourishment can kill you if the bar drops to zero, so make sure to stop it before it gets too low. :)

Okay , then after my wounds are healed I should be okay, welll thats a relief haha.
So if I'm in healthy condition, i wont get malnourished as long i keep eating even if I eat only eggs and banana, is that right though?

Oh and Grim, why cant I replant banana? is there a way to get more banana?

Thanks

Some foods are more nutritious than others. Bananas and eggs are good, as long you eat them often and make sure you are not hungry. Chicken sandwiches are pretty good too, since you mentioned having them before and so is Sago flatbread and slime.

Unfortunately Bananas are not replantable at the moment! :(
Most of the banana plants can be found in the jungle and a couple in the wetlands, but if you have depleted both places then that means you won't be able to find any more in the island.
In this coming update we'll be introducing a population system that will have plants replenish their numbers over time so that should help, and in a later one we'll make it possible for you to plant banans too. :)

You might want to check Retromation's playthrough then because he's been malnourished for several videos now after he picked up a wound which has long-since healed. I was wondering why he was having this problem since I never have in my long-running game (finally). He's been eating plenty of different stuff (no boars yet but several partridges and their eggs), including bananas.

Do you mean he got malnourished even after the wound is healed?

How to be normal again then? My wound almost heal now, i hope i can be healthy again.

That boar is really dangerous, even more than shipwreck...

If you keep eating well you should be fine. Sago meals, coconut fish and any prepared meals are a good idea.
Also, if you're afraid of getting hurt by the boar again, consider hunting it with a bow and arrows, he can't hurt you if you attack him from a distance. :)

I almost died because of malnourishment lol.
My malnourishment meter goes down faster than the wound.
I usually eat only until Im almost full, but the meter keeps going down even while sleeping.
Then I desperately eat even after Im full, and the malnourish meter actually goes up, so I butcher most of my chickens and eat so many eggs i get a high fever lol.

I think Coconut Fish and Jungle Salad is very good for it, but malnourishment is even more dangerous than getting beaten by a boar hahaha

Well, that explains why I've never felt that the boar has been dangerous and only a free source of food, I've always been hunting with a bow and arrow. :D

Malnourishment is confusing.

The display itself is confusing.
Malnourishment is a bad thing but you want the bar to be as full as possible.

I think it would be more clear if it was a nutrition bar, always displayed like the hunger bar and the hover text and color of the bar would change depending on your nutrition status.

There should also be some intermediate step between fine and malnourished.
Maybe "slightly malnourished" or "Borderline" so that we would have some warning before being just plain malnourished.

Another confusion comes because the game is quite realistic on many aspects but doesn't tell us much explicitly.

Because of that, many people assume that malnourishment is caused by a lack of food diversity when in fact it is linked to healing and calories intake.

Hi nachterg,
Yeah, the stat UI is confusing to many at the moment. We are going to be updating it soon so hopefully that should help solve the situation.
We are planning to show a lot more information on the stats, including how they actually work and what is affecting them. :)
