I can't save my progress
So I've been trying to save the game, and it just won't. I go to the save station, go to save, and absolutely nothing. Has anyone else had this problem?

Edit: After installing Windows 11 onto my computer, the problem has somehow been resolved.

Check antivirus ..

might be blocking read / write ..

Go to:
C:\Users\%user%\Documents\Dead Space (2023)\settings
Right-click the "steam" folder - properties - security tab.

There will be several user or group names:
select system - click edit - make sure all of the boxes are ticked.
Do the same for your user name and Administrators.

Now this folder should have full read/write permissions, so save files will be saved properly.

I already tried deactivating it, and it sadly didn't work. Is there another thing to do with the antivirus that I might be missing?

Every box is ticked except for Special permissions, and I checked the advanced settings, nothing unchecked. I launched the game, played until the first checkpoint, and it still doesn't work. Any ideas?

Try to do the same for the whole game folder. Perhaps the game's .exe doesn't have access to your documents data folder somehow.

Does your username have any special characters?

So I decided to try it out on my laptop, and it worked (although it ran horribly). I tried comparing the files, nothing. So I decided to download windows 11 onto my tower computer (I had windows 11 on my laptop, but I was procrastinating getting it on my tower), and now it works. I can save/load my old game files from when the game first released.

Thank you so much for your time, I really appreciated the advice. Merry Christmas!

As soon as it worked on my laptop (which doesn't meet the minimum requirments) I knew it was a ME problem.

Glad you fixed it. Definitely had something to do with user account permissions. I assume update has reset "something" which allowed the game .exe to save just fine.

Happy gaming and likewise - Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
