Crashing after Win 11 24h2 update
I have a Ryzen 5 7500f and an MSI 4070 Super. I played the game for about 30 hours on Win 11 23h2 before I got the win 11 24h2 update installed. Now the game crashes within 5 minutes of loading up a saved game. I've tried removing GPU OC, CPU OC, re-install nvidia drivers, re-install chipset drivers, and I've even deleted and re-downloaded the game itself. Nothing seems to help, it just keep crashing to the desktop without warning. Is anyone else having this issue?

I opened up one of the crashdump files in my Documents folder CrashDump_2024.08.30_12.31.14.440.mdmp with WinDbg.

The crash dump points to an Access Violation (0xc0000005) error in the ucrtbase.dll module, specifically during a memcpy operation. This type of error typically occurs when the program attempts to read or write to a memory address that it doesn’t have permission to access.

I deleted the entire "cache" folder under "C:\Users\[username]\Documents\Dead Space (2023)" and that seems to have fixed my issue. I've been playing for the last 45 minutes without issue or event.

I played this game a month ago, everything was fine. Suddenly boot up this weekend, and the game immediately freezes and my PC reboots. Happened a few times, until I deleted the 'cache' folder, as suggested in this thread. Don't know what happened to this game but thanks for the work-around.

I am having exactly the same Issue, Today I did a manual update from Windows 11 23H2 to 24H2 and Dead Space, which I had been playing without any problems until last night, crashed and is now unplayable. Thanks for the info, I'm going to try your solution now.
DANBi Oct 12, 2024 @ 6:38am
Your solution seems to have completely solved my problem Thank you so much I was about to give up on the game you saved me

I have this folder empty. The problem is the same after 24h2 the game stopped running!

I want to add that deleting the cache folder as said above also solved it for me! Thanks!

You're a life saver

24H2 is breaking a LOT of games. After Dead Space became very stuttery and crashed 6 times, I began checking into it. My Internet Browsing also reduced to a crawl. Ended up reverting back to 23H2 until MS straightens this crap out. Blocked automatic update to 24H2 using GRC InControl (Very simple)
