One Gun Achievement...

I am in chapter 3 and i have to get past these tentacles blocking a passageway
i can kill them with the Flame Thrower but that will ruin the One Gun acheivo
when i fire the plasma cutter at the tentacles it does no damage
how to get past them?

Um just use one weapon. Plasma cutter is the best option.
You might need to shoot the yellow blisters.

for "one gun" you are only allowed to use the Plasma Cutter..no other weapons

I think you're talking about the guardians. Just shoot their red tentacles and they'll explode by themselves when you're done.

Chapter 3 is too early for guardians. OP definitely means the giant tentacle with the yellow sensitive spot that grabs you after restoring the centrifuge.

You can do this achievement even on New Game +. Plasma Cutter is not really needed.
Just hit a new game + pick the weapon you want to play all the way. (Make sure its not the flame thrower since that one might be hard on final boss and tentacle.)

The description for the Achievement here on Steam says"Beat the game using only the Plasma Cutter"
every guide i checked on the net uses only the Plasma Cutter
but... if you got the achievo using a different weapon then thats great to know

You are also allower to kill with telekinesis and experimental stasis.
Try launching something on the tentacle's weak spot or use experimental stasis on it

Beat the game using only the Plasma Cutter.

It definitely requires the Plasma Cutter, and honestly the Plasma Cutter is one of the best weapons in the game anyway. Even if it's bugged I'd hate to slog through the game with only the Pulse Rifle lol.
