You can save as much as you like. You just cant die. Not that difficult.

You have one save slot, but you can save as many times as you want. You should also be able to cheese the game by quitting to the main menu before dying and just reloading your last save.

its easier than dead space 2's impossible mode where you only had 3 saves but could die however much you wanted, but still hard enough to where if you run out of ammo your screwed

You can do it. Only upgrade suit and plasma cutter.

Found it to be easier than the original. Followed a walk through for Impossible mode where the guy collected as many power nodes as humanly possible and upgraded the suit and plasma cutter whenever possible. That helped quite a bit.
