Considering I mostly did upgraded the plasma cutter first, I did supplement it with the line gun which is rather good support / control for it. Then the flame thrower for closer combat relief and finally if that fails to add sudden boost of damage the force gun.
I focused on them in that order.
If we are talking about the very last boss then you can kill if with all of these guns. Well, perhaps not the flame thrower and the force gun. lol.
Yes, but only if you like using it. Upgraded you can play the entire game with it exclusively, it's a powerful workhorse. But the problem is there are other guns so you are missing out on the fun of using them, instead of ol' reliable.
Anyway, do not go by what you did in the original game. The weapons in the remake have all been completely rebalanced, and some of the effects changed.
plasma cutter
and Line gun for traps (which can insta kill almost every enemy)
then the rest
I loved using the ripper too but late chapters made it harder to use without using stasis as well.
Once I had tons of money from producing pulse rifle ammo I fully modded the plasma cutter, pulse rifle, flamethrower, and the force gun. I like the force gun because sometimes I can't think/react fast enough so I just use force gun like a shotgun until my thought process catches up to the game. ha ha ha
