Imma just say i hardly believe that take of yours. The first one performed well in the past, that's one of the main reasons they made a remake of it in the first place.
Actually, not really. the first one ended up doing about as bad, if not worse. According to the wiki page, less than 4 months after the game released in October of 2008, it was stated by the CEO that the game had made around 1 million sales worldwide. We're now 6 months into the release of the remake with over twice that.

So yeah, neither game recieved well and are far below projected sales by EA. That has far less to do with political bullshittery though and more of survival horror overall being very niche, and the abysmal performance at launch did the sales numbers no favors.

"Dead Space debuted to slow sales but eventually sold over a million copies worldwide."

A point should be made that EA always expected way more ... And the first dead space had no existing fanbase, gaming wasn't as mainstream , alot of factors... And with the remake..... While the sales weren't influenced as much as some people give it credit for by the politics shoved in.... It didn't do them any favours either... Especially with how other media was affected by this political non-sense ... The astronomical drop in quality and all that. The disdain for what they worked with and all that. As much as people like to downplay it all, the reasons to be defensive against it were all there. 100% justified.

yeah, but i still attribute the political nonsense to being absolute nothing. it wasn't as in your face and phoned is like it usually is in games, and it's so minor that it doesn't actually stand out within the game. i attribute poor sales almost intrinsically to the abysmal technical issues with the game at launch, and hesitance to trust EA overall as a publisher. sales would have been a LOT higher had the game actually worked at launch, and had better marketing done for it. nevermind the bait and switch that they did on pre-release footage nusing remastered versions of the old sound effects that got cut in the full game, for whatever reason, and now every gun sounds anemic. (that is a pet peeve i will never let go, sorry.)

it just could have been better. it SHOULD have been better. but for whatever reason, it just wasn't, and not even brand recognition could give it sales that would even beat it's first outing. hell, the game is still busted for most people using brand new drivers. that news isn't going to help sales either, and nobody will fix it. just like they won't fix the stuttering. just like they won't fix the raytracing. EA and Motive just don't give a ♥♥♥♥ about Dead Space. case is closed and i'm going to hold my breath for another remake like people are asking for with the second and third games. it's not happening.

Well, i understand it wasn't as blatant and as big as other games do it , the whole political thing. But when the game was a technical disaster, people started looking for reasons . And what i can say is a logical conclusion has been reached in the fact they had the time to go for said redesigns that add no positives to the game, but didn't have the time to playtest the game and fix it for a succesful launch. And it makes it easier to reach such a conclusion when we look at other media, that was basically vandalized in a manner such as this.As a great man once said "Oh yeah, it's all coming togheter"(couldn't hold this one back sorry). Their priorities made no sense. Also, i don't see a problem with your complaint about the sound design. Everybody expected better, or at the very least a release as good as the original, even though it SHOULD have been better. And sound is quite important in setting an atmosphere and such.

The same really can be said about a lot of big name companies games in the last few years however, cyberpunk, Fallout 74, forespoken, that vampire one I can’t bother to remember the name of, Callisto protocol etc etc it’s not something limited to just this game or wasting time on some other assets as far I can tell, it’s a lack of effort
Edit: lack of effort and executives giving insane deadlines

Just incels being incels really.

And yeah, I hate that term being bandied around, believe me. But people arguing in an online forum about video game characters not being attractive enough are clearly ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ incels.

Yes. Modern developers... they can't code nor write a good story. They suck at everything they do. So what they do instead is Ctrl+C Ctrl+V an already good product, and put in their own models and call it a done deal.
