Of course it would depend on the circumstances, but if we assume he is allowed at least his engineering skills to apply to the Aliens universe and can handle combat as effectively as he manages from the start with zero training for it, then I think he would do okay. If instead of his skills applying to the Aliens Universe he was allowed to bring some of his weapons/tools I think he would do fine also.
Obviously an Alien would kill him if he got ambushed or such, but if he was allowed the same tools/situation that Ripley was I think he would do just fine.
His RIG can also survive being in an active engine for a few seconds (those fires aren't instakills if you walk out of them fast enough).
People really underestimate the RIG armor, or overestimate Xenomorphs.
He'd be fine. Most Necromorphs are deadlier than Xenomorphs. They are however much more fragile. I think Xenomorphs would tank more shots than most Necromorphs, except the armored ones.
