Which one is harder for you and why?
I'm interested to read which game (OG or Remake) was harder for you and why?

Neither of them were particularly hard, but I'd have to say the OG, mainly because half of the weapons were stupidly underpowered, the controls were stiff, and impossible difficulty was a proper very hard mode rather than just hard with permadeath.

I played through the original just before the remake was released, and i have to say that they are on par with each other. Overall not really hard but fine games.

The only thing that caught me of guard in the remake was the fact that the necromorphs do not stagger.

I only recently played the original (a few weeks before the remake) and I personally found the original way easier (both games I played on medium for my first playthrough) I always had enough money and ammo in the original and never really worried about running out.

In the remake I was constantly low on ammo except for the contact beam despite exploring a ton, it might have to do with the fact I did all of the side quests which don't seem to give you as much ammo since you're just backtracking through already looted areas and not to mention the randomly spawning enemies eating up my ammo. The enemies seem to be spongier as well (not a complaint)

I've played the remake and the original and I have to say that its not whether one is harder then the other but that certain parts have been made easier in the remake and vice versa.

Things that have been made easier for is the ATS Cannon bit (I almost rage quit several times in the original manually shooting like 10 to 20 asteroids at the same time lol). Zero Gravity have been made significantly easier now that we hover through zero gravity rather then just jumping from one spot to another (A good example of this is the placing the beacon on the asteroid level as in the original if you fudge up the timing, you basically just sit there, watching Issac slowly fly into the grinder sigh).

Things that have been made harder for me are the regenerator parts. Not cause the regenerator itself is harder but combine this with the ammo drop system, means I run out of ammo quick against something that can't be killed. Another example is the Communications puzzle part, however thats rather a minor difficulty so not an issue.

Some parts of the game are not exactly hard but very easy to screw up. Prime example for me, no usy the force-gun near the nuke part lol.

What do you mean the ammo drop system? If anything, the ammo drops system seems pretty similar to the original, almost completely dependent on what weapons you have. Either way, buying ammo has always been an option.

the og ads part was probably the hardest bit of the 2 game

Probably useless 100 credit drops in place of ammo. It is a total mess on hard/ hard ng+: You need like 10+ plasma cutter shots on regenerator, and you can get like 6 ammo in 3-4 room full of necros. And 1k credits.

That happened on the OG too though, you'd get credit alot of the time as well there.

I don't know, in the original I was swimming in pulse rifle rounds that I didn't know what to do with them lol. This game, the ammo drop system is a bit harsher and wierder depending on the weapons you use. First run I used Plasma Cutter, Pulse Rifle and Force Gun, kjept having a surplus of Force ammo no matter what I used.

I suppose the original was more difficult because it came out in 2008, and was completely unknown at the time.

DS23 played better, had fewer bugs, improved controls, and much improved physics.

Particularly the impossible mode on the original was way more difficult, since it was a straight step up in health for each enemy, and in the damage that the do, along with a decrease in chance for a drop at all from enemies. Yeah, in the original game in Hard mode and Impossible mode, you had about a 50% chance of getting absolutely nothing from any necromorph. Here, I believe you at least get something from each kill. Another thing I have noticed is that it is alot easier to deal with certain danger rooms due to redesigns, quite notably the big room in the Valor, they put in two stasis refills as an example.

So far I’d say this one, I’m finding it hard to get enough ammo and money
Derrame Feb 21, 2023 @ 1:28pm
the old game is harder, faster enemies, difficult to aim
less objects to throw,
saw and flamethrower are weak
Xymnala Feb 21, 2023 @ 1:30pm
Oh right. The first game didn't have the impalement system. Yeah, the original game was waay harder, with both ammo and straight difficulty. Here you can save a ton of ammo by just throwing blades at enemies over and over.

I've seen others say this. That's strange, because Necromorphs often stagger when I shoot them in the remake. But I am playing on Medium, so that might be why. Are you playing on Hard or Impossible? Maybe enemies stagger far less, or not at all, on the highest difficulties?
